I will never forget the ride I had in my '69 Buick GS 400 one afternoon in high school............. Similar story in my 1970 Z28... Had a s-turn stretch alongside a cliffside... at night you had to watch for opposite direction headlights while we were straightning the curves. Not a pretty sight when the guy you were racing against had to steer toward the cliff to avoid the head-on collision. 300 ft down into the river :-( |

I will never forget the ride I had in my '69 Buick GS 400 one afternoon in high school............. More than once I had to lock 'em up else I'd have been straight through the T-bone in the road.... Sliding to a stop locked up looking over the cliff out your window... I changed my driving habits after the second time... But the chicks loved it ;-) |

I will never forget the ride I had in my '69 Buick GS 400 one afternoon in high school............. I used to drive mountain pass roads to go between work and home. Many's the time that I drove a lot faster than was safe in my '70 Challenger. I made it from home to work as fast as someone driving the freeway. there were several turns that were hairy to say the least. and if I went over the side I would be lucky not to land in someone's living room. I was taking 15MPH turns at 30 MPH and staying in my own lane as well. but it was tough. I don't do those things any more....:) What you do today you will have to live with tonight |

rebest, I also like Mopars, They were/are great cars. The same way I did. Dumb luck. My old Polara was slow off the line, but the 318 had a decent top end. I decided to test it late one night on the Garden State Parkway in New Jersey. I have no idea how fast I was going, but the needle had hit the stop past 120. I was on a stretch of road that I was not familiar and was rounding a long, gentle turn when I saw the sign: Toll Plaza 1/4 mile. Now this car was totally stock, so it had the crappy old drum brakes on it. No way I was going to get that beast stopped. I think I "threaded the needle" doing about 60. Scared the crap out of me. Thanks Mark... For sending down Excel Energy line crews from Wisconsin to help restore electricity to Sugar Land, Texas !!! Saw about a dozen trucks from Excel today when I was out hitting golf balls, love those pretty blue license plates :) |
