rebest, I also like Mopars, They were/are great cars. Drool is right!!!! Awesome, Stealth!! I'd love to have one of the classics. Instead, I joined the "Next Generation": It's fun to play with. The only problem is the NC Highway Patrol thinks so, too. They're getting a fleet of them. Join the PACK! |

rebest, I also like Mopars, They were/are great cars. The various law enforcement agencies here are also going to Dodges. Even some in Northern California have them. Harking back to the '60s and '70s when the CHP used the Dodge Polaras for their interceptor vehicles. What you do today you will have to live with tonight |

rebest, I also like Mopars, They were/are great cars. My first car was a '69 Dodge Polara. Unfortunately, instead of the 440, it had the 318. It was a good first car. All metal, very heavy, and underpowered. I couldn't get into too much trouble. Join the PACK! |

rebest, I also like Mopars, They were/are great cars. My fourth or fifth was the '71 Roadrunner 383 Magnum 4spd and 3.23 limited slip differential it would do 100 in the 1/4. top end over 135mph I know because I tried both. the 1/4 when I pissed off a LACSD and Top end when my dad died. (in case you don't know the acronym, it stands for Los Angeles County Sheriff Deputy.) What you do today you will have to live with tonight |

rebest, I also like Mopars, They were/are great cars. I will never forget the ride I had in my '69 Buick GS 400 one afternoon in high school............. The dudes had been bitching at me all day long 'bout this guy and his 'Stang....... Got to get sore......you know how teenys are.......and peer pressure... I caved...and granted him the race...... Lunch time.......and little used road......and too many hormones and horsepower.... We launched.......I had him from the get-go........ But then the right front wheel bearing on the 'Stang froze up........ Not a pretty sight....but nobody died that after noon.....the 'Stang ended up on the roof.......with the tyres aloft.......they all crawled out.....thank God. I got called into the front office that afternoon, but did not confess.... Used to have a hoot launching me GS400 over the railroad tracks in town... Dude did not believe that I could get the car airborne......dumb ###t...... Won a c-note for that one........ he waited be the side of the road....... I cam by at about 85mph......the road was high, the tracks were low.......and away on the fly away I did go....... How did I ever survive my youth?????? "Freedom is just Chaos, with better lighting." I took it down to the high school parking lot and did brodies there. Not to mention other stupid stuff. What you do today you will have to live with tonight |

Your reference to 'broddies' gave you away...... 2nd..My favorite memory was driving my Daddy's '69 Buick Electra........ It had only about 500 miles on it.........cherry......we went to my Aunt's house and they had left the greeting card on the table back home......oh boy.... I had just got my driver's license a few days before, but he tossed me the keys and asked me to go back to the house to get the card...... Any of you know what a Quadrajet sounds like when you crack it open?????? Your pissant fuel injected cars just do not have that sound............ 455 cubes of hungry V8??? Some of you I am sure cannot understand..... The Qjet had about 1.2 inch primary bores and 'coke bottle' secondaries...... When the vaccum operated back bores kicked in, you were gone............ I had modified the Quadrajet in the Buick to act more like a Holley......the secondaries opened up when I wanted them to, not when they felt like it...... You had to control the throttle, else it would bog down, but it worked like a mechanical secondary.......and you better be hangin' on tight when it cracked open...... The best speed I ever got was about 145 mph.....outrunning a cop....on a Sunday morning comin' down........ "Freedom is just Chaos, with better lighting." Alan Dean Foster |

I will never forget the ride I had in my '69 Buick GS 400 one afternoon in high school............. I could have tried to out run the LCSD as I still had another gear to go but the next time I took it out on the road they would have nailed me. (I had the only '71 white Roadrunner with a green/gold vinyl roof that I have ever seen and this was over 30 years ago. I still haven't seen another one.)
