It was a bit red and white, and, sort of, bitty afterwards, .... bits all over the place!

Holy hand granade anyone... :) 1 . 2 . 5 erm? 3 ¬..

More Pics of my car

It looks like there is a little ouch on the left hand side of the hood (bonnet).
But it looks like a clean car otherwise, even the engine looks fairly clean.
and with only 196632 Kilometers (122,181)miles it is a great buy.

I think he means the red writing on the corner of the hood.

I guess it is just the shadow/reflection along with the writing that makes it look so. Sorry.

Congratulation to your new car! :-)

Now the car is 25 years old.. a Youngtimer.. [>= 20 years]

If it arrived 30 years it's an Oldtimer..

The color it have now is the original color? If yes, I would stay with it..

Gas is well..
Diesel isn't well for healthy.. you will get cancer.. (If it don't have a 'closed filter system')

BTW.
Made in Germany.. Hey, nothing is better.. ;-D

I would check the right handside of the windshield (picture number 3,on the right): it seems to be a scratch in it (from the top border all the way down) as if something had hit it ( a stone, or whatever).
C´est une trés jolie voiture, monsieur!

I would say that a crack on the windshield has a priority on your budget.....you would not pass the technical vehicle inspection for a legal ride here. Spain ITV has been copying the german TÃœV rules the last decade and now they are spotting every single failure...!!!!
But I must say that most detected issues are really necessary to be changed/solved, for the general public and your own safety.
Enjoy your car but with safety as a copilot.

I went to the inspectors here and they said as long as the crack doesnt obstruct the drivers view then there shouldnt be a problem. It also helped they were vw fans <thumbs up>

Fire Engine Red

If you are going for visibility, how about international orange (think orange life vest).

BTW If you put the steering wheel on the other side it will loose value as a classic. The VIN # gives a description of the car's equipment and if anything is changed it affects the value. If you get it setup to original or as close as possible you will retain the value. And that will increase over time if you keep the mileage low.

Gasp! Lack of a sense of humor.

Don't ever "loose" it or is that lose?

I would go for a dark burnt orange metallic......with some black accents, like some pinstripes....

Many years ago, I had a '72 Buick Skylark that I did in a '60s Corvette orange, and when they mixed it up at the paint shop, I had them throw an extra shot of the gold flake into it......

I did it with old fashioned lacquer......none of the newfangled urethane and such that they are using nowadays.....

Primer.....a couple of thin coats....wet sand by hand.....a couple of coats of orange, hand wetsand....a couple of more coats of orange...hand wetsand again...lay the pinstripe out on the fenders....paint the pinstripe.....peel the masking tape off......more hand wetsanding........top with clear lacquer.....more hand wetsanding.....a couple more coats of clear.......

Let harden and buff...........simple, right? Hey, I was kid then, and had nothing but time.

It took about a month.......but the result was quite striking.......
