Meandering threads cut down on the project's ability to detect ETI.
It is also sends a bad message to the young ones when they see that, when adults voluntarily speak with each other, adults cannot help but go off on tangents.

If a thread were to go from apples to oranges, I'd say fine.

If a thread goes from apples to orangutans, we can talk about orangutans for a bit, but I'd like to see it get back to apples before the week is out.

There is no other logical explanation for splicings.

If I had been one to always keep the Myths, Legends, Conspiracies thread " on topic " then there is no way it would have survived 11 spawns.

It wanders around constantly. But yet...it always manages to find it's way back.
