The scheduler is sporadically accessible now, but seems to think that there is no work available. --- - 2004-09-24 02:01:13 - Insufficient work; requesting more SETI@home - 2004-09-24 02:01:13 - Requesting 226153 seconds of work SETI@home - 2004-09-24 02:01:13 - Sending request to scheduler: http://setiboinc.ssl.berkeley.edu/sah_cgi/cgi SETI@home - 2004-09-24 02:01:21 - Scheduler RPC to http://setiboinc.ssl.berkeley.edu/sah_cgi/cgi succeeded SETI@home - 2004-09-24 02:01:21 - Message from server: No work available SETI@home - 2004-09-24 02:01:21 - No work from project SETI@home - 2004-09-24 02:01:21 - Deferring communication with project for 1 hours, 0 minutes, and 0 seconds Will it not find work for clients with the splitters down? |

The concern is that the server status page: http://setiweb.ssl.berkeley.edu/sah_status.html Says that: As of 24 Sep 2004 9:40:07 UTC there are: 856,268 available (approximately) The scheduler says there are none (NOT that it is busy/not responding) which is right? |

I also have this problem. I have no trouble logging in. When BOINC accesses the Scheduler, it says: Sending request to scheduler: http://setiboinc.ssl.berkeley.edu/sah/sah_cgi/cgi Scheduler RPC to http://setiboinc.ssl.berkeley.edu/sah/sah_cgi/cgi succeeded Message from server: No work available No work from project Deferring communication with project for 1 hours, 0 minutes, 0 seconds This seemed odd as the status claims that there are 1,291,980 results to send (as of 15:20:08 UTC) but earlier (6:00:08 UTC) it said only 799,056 ready to send. The splitters were down inbetween 6:00 and 15:20 so where did the workunits come from and go to? |

I'll add my "ME TOO", and raise you. Since the release of SAH 4.05 (on BOINC 4.09), whenever my P4 3.2Ghz PC does finally get through to a scheduler with work, it downloads just ONE workunit? Even though, it's been configured to get 5 days worth (modem user, so prefer to do one/two mass upload/downloads per week). According to the BOINC logs... 2004-10-07 09:20:22 [---] Insufficient work; requesting more 2004-10-07 09:20:22 [SETI@home] Requesting 202720 seconds of work 2004-10-07 09:20:22 [SETI@home] Sending request to scheduler: http://setiboinc.ssl.berkeley.edu/sah_cgi/cgi 2004-10-07 09:20:59 [SETI@home] Scheduler RPC to http://setiboinc.ssl.berkeley.edu/sah_cgi/cgi succeeded 2004-10-07 09:20:59 [SETI@home] Started download of 14mr04aa.17223.1569.129826.123 2004-10-07 09:21:30 [SETI@home] Download of 14mr04aa.17223.1569.129826.123 finished Now by my calculation, 202720 seconds is over 56 hours (2.3 days), now unless BOINC somehow thinks WUs which have in the past taken avg: 2.5 - 3.0 hours to complete, is now suddenly going to take 56 hours, it's lost the plot somewhere!!! |

I think the Problem lies in Boinc the settings are to complycated, the interfer with each other, if u request to much work for to much days but dont have enough space it wont work, if u set general preferences and one of the others ore more the same it seems not to work... ok what did i do i set usable diskspace to 100% i set Download from 0.1 to 35 Days i delete all other settings and run only general preferences i set the Disk space to right data, max to max what is free for boinc. since then i recive many many WU´s! i dont like the settings for Days and Space, there should be an option for hours and MB GB on them i think many people dont read it right, and set it wrong... but i have the strange feeling that the problem appears if u use the different settings to (Work, Home, School)... |

> i set Download from 0.1 to 35 Days > since then i recive many many WU´s! Yep, and you probably won't get any credit for most of them becasue you'll be returning the results after the return deadline; probably a week or more after it. And it will take longer for others to get credit for the results they return because those units won't be sent out again till after your deadline has expired. Grant Darwin NT |

Thnaks for the reply, but no I've ensured disk allocations vs WUs requested are balanced (easy to do: NumberOfWUsPerDay * NumberOfDaysRequested = MaxLikelyWUs, then MaxLikelyWUs * 365Kb = DiskSpaceReqForWUs, then double it to cover any unlikely events and the SAH binary itself etc). Anyway, with the release of BOINC 4.13 I decided to do a complete un-install, and installed 4.13 clean, and hey-presto! BOINC/SAH now downloading multiple WUs. I conclude that settings simply got stuffed up somewhere, possibly with the multiple upgrading at my client end, and the multiple "issues" at the Berkeley server end. So all is working again; and the BOINC'ing Berkeley Boys seem to be getting their act together (the SAH_status page a big help guys!). :) |

Hm iam not shure about that, if u have finished WU´s u can send them by only clicking them to send... but maby ur right if the stored WU´s gettin to old. I still testing the settings, i think a max of 20 WU´s should be enough for me, to survive a few days offline time, from the server or me myself |

I use BOINC 4.13 and simply detached and reattached to the SETI project and it solved the problem. -David- |
