Yeah something weird is going on. The server is obviously up and running and I can access it from home but not from work. Yesterday Cogent appeared to be having a major outage in Milwaukee that may have affected some people but that seems to be resolved today and yet I still can't get to the server from work. It stops at the same IP as your trace does, Crunch3r. The server is in Atlanta so I don't think it is on our end but I don't know what is going on...

Well maybe cogent is to be held responsible for that one. I remember that a while back (a year or so) the seti servers that used to be on cogent too where unacessable for 2 weeks because of cogent got de-peered from some other major ip carrier ... maybe that's the case here too. But who knows for sure...

Yeah I remember that too. I think it actually happened twice. Once was a french ISP if I remember correctly and it seemed like half of europe couldn't get work units.

The last IP I can get to from work is owned by Global Crossing so maybe GC and Cogent are having a lover's quarrel now?

I'm not sure, googleing a bit showed up that this happend to kwsn.net before and oneringnetworks.net caused the problem.

Lucky you. It's all dead for me. Using traceroute at home i'll get at least that far:

1 L0.hnv2-lns.mcbone.net (62.104.190.35)
2 ge-4-1-0-2.hnv2-j2.mcbone.net (62.104.223.7)
3 so-0-0-0-0.hnv2-j.mcbone.net (62.104.200.146)
4 ge-5-1-0-0.ffm4-j2.mcbone.net (62.104.200.129)
5 GigabitEthernet3-24.ar1.FRA4.gblx.net (208.49.224.241)
6 64.209.102.222 (64.209.102.222)

Using our corporate network at work i don't even get a single reply on the kwsn.net address... all dead.

Well Onering networks is our ISP so when they have a problem it means the box goes completely offline. Tracing from the server to work, I can't get off of cogent's network and going the other direction I can't get TO cogent so my suspicion is still on a peering problem upstream. I did find this article that would seem to indicate that Cogent and Telia had a peering dispute in March but I believe that has been resolved so... I don't know!

Hi all,
for me in France (France Telecom) the kwsn.net address is completely dead, no answer.
@Jason, if I use http://freeproxy.uk.to I come to the site, but all our links are filled with spam links... very angry.. therefore this is no solution.
So it looks like I'm a while absent

Ahh Yes, I'm sure Heinz wants to chat with us on the message boards though ;D the mirrors don't have that, only the opt apps that he cannot use for a few days yet.

@Heinz: At least when your mobo comes you'll be able to try the new builds ;D

Nevermind, when I am back on top of some school and work issues I will reconsider establishing a new forum (if needed) , that'll be a while off yet though.

No problems in the Netherlands, too. As i speak/write the site is accessible .

Downloading another app. right now.

Maybe you should check your MODEM/Router/cables & FireWall/Virus-scanner/Spy-ware-scanner. And check your I.S.P.if you are connected, right now. Everything powered up ;o)

Good luck and Keep On Crunching ;]

Maybe it's a DNS problem?

You could try the "Flush DNS trick":

Open a DOS cmd box (in Windows):

type: ipconfig /flushdns
and then: ipconfig /registerdns

Hi all,
thanks for your help.
@Kim Vater I tried your "Flush DNS trick" but had no success.
As Toby already said Cogent and Thelia (France Telekom is included) have a dispute and swiched the connection off. Nobody knows howlong or for ever this will be so.
My problem is not to download the new AK_v8, I want to write in the developer forum of the lunatics site, and this is at time not possible for me.
I think in the next time we find a way to communicate each other without using the lunatics board.
Thank you all for your tips and help

happy crunching with the new ak_v8

regards heinz
