I am running version 5.10.30 and I see where version 5.10.42 is now available. Is there any value in updating to the new version? If I do update, should I first uninstall 5.10.30 and then install 5.10.42, or simply stop the old version from running and install the new version? If I do either of the above, will work be lost? |

5.10.42 has a couple of fixes. It's not been released yet, though, as in the recommended version. It's out for testing. If you do decide to update, you can install the new version directly on top of the old one. The BOINC installer uninstalls your old version for you. See this thread on the BOINC Dev forums for what changes have expired between 5.10.30 and 5.10.42 |

If I do update, should I first uninstall 5.10.30 and then install 5.10.42, or simply stop the old version from running and install the new version? I've tried both; most recently with 5.10.41. With the 5.x.x BOINC's, I've read awhile ago that Stop-and-install is fine; if you were going from 4.x to 5.x is where the Uninstall option is preferred. If I do either of the above, will work be lost? No. I've done both in the last week in trying to fiddle with an install option I chose for 5.10.41. I didn't lose any project data- that I noticed... |
