(One of the reasons this thread does annoy me is because people love their quotes so much they use them as a way of trying to beguile or hide their knowledge from others. Grrrrrrrrrrrrr.....) Seems we both possess the gift of emotion. I didn't mean to push you to the point of being annoyed or hurt by me. I'm not a brick wall and I don't expect you to be god-like. I don't think it is our ability to quote from or live by a book that God wants. He wants us. We are the jewel in his eyes.. . |

I don't think it is our ability to quote from or live by a book that God wants. If God didn't want us to live by His books, He wouldn't have given them to us... ;) (Compared to the pathetic rules of this world, I find Gods rules quite simple to follow.) I don't think it is our ability to quote from or live by a book that God wants. I wasn't born with his book in my hand. (Nor will I become your new R\\B or antipathy.) You have the book God gave you to help you. Most of us only have the universe we find ourselves in. Some have what you call God's book. I don't. Youpidou.. Should I stop wasting time and walk down towards hell now? What if someone (let's say from deepest evil communist hated no bible old russia) walked into a burning building to save lives knowing they would die themselves? Would all the pages of God's book be able to teach someone that kind of willingness or sacrifice? Who would you choose: The person who 'quotes' good deeds or the person who actually 'does' good deeds? God gave you his book. He didn't give it to me. Perhaps the book readers are more worthy or maybe they need scripture more than the rest of the world. Youpidou.. . |

The mysterious 'mark' of the beast: Revelation of John 13:16-17 And he causeth all, both small and great, rich and poor, free and bond, to receive a mark in their right hand, or in their foreheads: And that no man might buy or sell, save he that had the mark, or the name of the beast, or the number of his name. Oft repeated phrase: "You're either WITH us or you're AGAINST us" Hmmm... ;) It may not be 1984 but George Orwell sure did see the future . . . |

Galatians 6:8 For he who sows to his own flesh will from the flesh reap corruption; but he who sows to the Spirit will from the Spirit reap eternal life. A hundred years of corruption or eternal life... Sounds like a 'no brainer'... ;) It may not be 1984 but George Orwell sure did see the future . . . |

I John 3:24 (Spirit of God) All who keep his commandments abide in him, and he in them. And by this we know that he abides in us, by the Spirit which he has given us. Ephesians 2:2 (Spirit of the devil) the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that is now at work in the sons of disobedience. Which spirit has your back? It's never too late to 'trade up'... ;) It may not be 1984 but George Orwell sure did see the future . . . |

Qur'an 29:2-3 Do men think that they will be left alone on saying, "We believe", and that they will not be tested? We did test those before them, and Allah will certainly know those who are true from those who are false. Qur'an 29:21 He punishes whom He pleases, and He grants Mercy to whom He pleases, and towards Him are ye turned. Now let's see what the Bible has to say: Job 1:6-12 (The 1st test) Now there was a day when the sons of God came to present themselves before the LORD, and Satan also came among them. The LORD said to Satan, "Whence have you come?" Satan answered the LORD, "From going to and fro on the earth, and from walking up and down on it." And the LORD said to Satan, "Have you considered my servant Job, that there is none like him on the earth, a blameless and upright man, who fears God and turns away from evil?" Then Satan answered the LORD, "Does Job fear God for nought? Hast thou not put a hedge about him and his house and all that he has, on every side? Thou hast blessed the work of his hands, and his possessions have increased in the land. But put forth thy hand now, and touch all that he has, and he will curse thee to thy face." And the LORD said to Satan, "Behold, all that he has is in your power; only upon himself do not put forth your hand." So Satan went forth from the presence of the LORD. Job 1:21-22 (Jobs response to his loss of possessions) And he said, "Naked I came from my mother's womb, and naked shall I return; the LORD gave, and the LORD has taken away; blessed be the name of the LORD." In all this Job did not sin or charge God with wrong. Job 2:1-6 (The 2nd test) Again there was a day when the sons of God came to present themselves before the LORD, and Satan also came among them to present himself before the LORD. And the LORD said to Satan, "Whence have you come?" Satan answered the LORD, "From going to and fro on the earth, and from walking up and down on it." And the LORD said to Satan, "Have you considered my servant Job, that there is none like him on the earth, a blameless and upright man, who fears God and turns away from evil? He still holds fast his integrity, although you moved me against him, to destroy him without cause." Then Satan answered the LORD, "Skin for skin! All that a man has he will give for his life. But put forth thy hand now, and touch his bone and his flesh, and he will curse thee to thy face." And the LORD said to Satan, "Behold, he is in your power; only spare his life." Job 2:9-10 (Jobs response to his afflictions) Then his wife said to him, "Do you still hold fast your integrity? Curse God, and die." But he said to her, "You speak as one of the foolish women would speak. Shall we receive good at the hand of God, and shall we not receive evil?" In all this Job did not sin with his lips. Job 42:17 (The conclusion) And Job died, an old man, and full of days. But of course, nowhere in the Bible does it say believers will be tested... ;) It may not be 1984 but George Orwell sure did see the future . . . |

But of course, nowhere in the Bible does it say believers will be tested... ;) Isn't it said, or implied, somewhere in the New Testament that as Christ suffered so must all Christians suffer (in one way or another)? me@rescam.org |

Isn't it said, or implied, somewhere in the New Testament that as Christ suffered so must all Christians suffer II Timothy 3:12 Indeed all who desire to live a godly life in Christ Jesus will be persecuted My point was that the Qur'an is nothing new... It's just a condensed version of the Bible that is often misunderstood by Christians... ;) It may not be 1984 but George Orwell sure did see the future . . . |

There is now an attempt to reform Islam, which is taking place in Turkey. This is looking at the hadiths which are believed to be made up of the sayings of the Prophet Mohammed. This will look into the cultural aspects which have become 'religious' and which are often used for social control, rather than religious purposes. Turkey in radical reform of Islamic texts |

There is now an attempt to reform Islam Been tried before, and this was what they discovered: Researchers with a variety of academic and theological interests are proposing controversial theories about the Koran and Islamic history, and are striving to reinterpret Islam for the modern world. This is, as one scholar puts it, a "sensitive business" Good luck with that! ;) It may not be 1984 but George Orwell sure did see the future . . . |

Who needs a religion when we have the most profound of teachers called life? Unfortunately the teacher called life can be cruel and it is our faith that carres us through the hard times. |

Who needs a religion when we have the most profound of teachers called life? I think this fits to that: Footsteps In The Sand One night a man had a dream. He dreamed he was walking along the beach with the LORD. Across the sky flashed scenes from his life. For each scene, he noticed two sets of footprints in the sand: one belonging to him, and the other to the LORD. When the last scene of his life flashed before him he looked back, at the footprints in the sand. He noticed that many times along the path of his life there was only one set of footprints. He also noticed that it happened at the very lowest and saddest times of his life. This really bothered him and he questioned the LORD about it: "LORD, you said that once I decided to follow you, you'd walk with me all the way. But I have noticed that during the most troublesome times in my life there is only one set of footprints. I don't understand why when I needed you most you would leave me." The LORD replied: "My son, My precious child, I love you and I would never leave you, During your times of trial and suffering, when you see only one set of footprints, it was then that I carried you."
