There are more preacher needed who dare to tell the truth. The truth doesn't fill the donation boxes... ;) II Timothy 4:3-4 For the time is coming when people will not endure sound teaching, but having itching ears they will accumulate for themselves teachers to suit their own likings, and will turn away from listening to the truth and wander into myths. It may not be 1984 but George Orwell sure did see the future . . . |

Is there a biblical entry on Pandora's box? Pandora had a 'jar' containing the biblical seven deadly sins... ;) (Don't eat the apple, don't open the jar... Why can't people follow simple task direction?!) It may not be 1984 but George Orwell sure did see the future . . . |

I Timothy 44:333-444 I'm sure you did mean 1 Timothy 4:3-4 ;) But anyway: Yes, this time already has come... And not just recently... I would dare to say it had come as soon as religious groups allowed themselves to get used by politicians, or to get corrupted by money. Look all the Christian denominations for example: Guess why some of them didn't allow their believers to read the Bible for centuries: because they invented new rules and titles that haven't any roots in the Bible they suppose to follow, despite these rules and titles were introduced through corruption and nepotism, only to mirror the decadence and repression in the feudal system! How many legends taught in these churches even contradict with the scriptures but are still taught nonetheless - out of tradition! Account frozen... |

The future of Religion in America. Can I ask a question that is not exactly related to religion regarding the above YouTube (US TV) clip? Throughout that clip the commentators / journalists kept pronouncing the name "OBAMA" in a way I would not have read it in my English (I'm from the UK.) Every time they said 'OBAMA's' name it sounded as if they were saying "O'Bomber" ("O-bom-er") (ergo: Bomber..)... I read 'OBAMA' as 'Ow-b-ah-m-a' (Ow-bar-mah).. How would Americans correctly pronounce this persons name? (Without using media, political or religious bias?) Just out of interest! . |

There's nothing sadder than watching a congregation of 'christian' wannabes, who have never even put forth the effort to read their bibles, sit in a church and listen to some preacher teach them to put their trust in God rather than in man... B B But wait mr preacher, aren't you just a man? And Isn't church supposed to be about worshipping God? You do remember who God is, don't you? ;) (Hint: The supreme being who created everything, including you and Jesus.) It may not be 1984 but George Orwell sure did see the future . . . |

There's nothing sadder than watching a congregation of 'christian' wannabes, who have never even put forth the effort to read their bibles, sit in a church and listen to some preacher teach them to put their trust in God rather than in man... I have no way of judging who is a 'wannabe' or a 'serious' person.... ... though I always felt 'churches' (temples) were more about "congregation" rather than personal connection to 'god' or 'worship'. If I look at my local area there are many different denominations and several different religions. All proclaim to be "worshiping" god but almost non of the members ever go to any of the other 'temples' even when a place of worship is next door to their home. People congregate in churches for affirmation of their own values (chosen or learnt) in front of each other. There is a degree of value to this even if it is only lip-service but there is also a downside. Personally I can celebrate the gift I have been given sitting in the bath, walking down the road, eating food, sleeping, coughing madly with a virus or in places where others do not like to congregate :o) I know churches act as icons for us mortals but are they really that important to god? . |

Important to God? Probably not, but places of worship are important to the worshipers for numerous reasons, including: showing respect for God (one of the objects of worship), learning how to show that respect outside the church/synagogue/temple (also a form of worship) and supporting the institution and its members, that is, one's neighbors, friends and others in need. Personally, though I am not Christian, I regularly attend a Christian church, but often also attend Buddhist and Jewish places of worship. I would also attend Muslim worship, if the opportunity arose. Perhaps your level of spirituality is so developed that you need no further assistance to grow in that respect, but I do. |
