..... the one that should be crunching WU 149744045. First wingman detached and returned their result to the pool, which is fine and as it should be. But my replacement wingman, host 3730503, just gives me Couldn't find computer. How can this be? You shouldn't be able to delete a host if it still has results assigned: and if it's changed its identity by being merged, the result record should be updated too. Anyone seen this before? Could it be a BOINC server bug? |

how do you find your/mine wingman (not teck savvy) By following the links on this website. I 'found' (or not, as the case may be) this one by clicking "Your account" in the navigation bar above this message board, then "Pending credit View". If you click on any of the links under "Workunit ID", you'll see your own computer (the one with 'Success' and 'pending' after its number), and any other host(s) the WU has been assigned to. Then you can click on their list of results to see what they're up to, and so on. |

I.ve had one or two go AWOL. I posted about it in another thread and one of their teammates let me know they had tried Vista and didn't like the way it worked. He got rid of vista and went back to XP but forgot to detach from SETI/BOINC first. That WU should go out to someone else on the 5th. At least he had an excuse and I'm not left wondering whay happened. ![]() PROUD MEMBER OF Team Starfire World BOINC |

He got rid of vista and went back to XP but forgot to detach from SETI/BOINC first. Yes, I've got a lot of those too (but not usually the explanation to go with it). But in your case, you must have known who the wingman was in order to get in touch with the teammate: the computer record should have remained in the BOINC database, even if the computer itself was no longer crunching. It's the Couldn't find computer I'm worried about. |

I have a couple of the Couldn't find Computer wingmen too Richard. I guess we just have to wait it out a little longer until the deadlines pass. I've been waiting since mid August on mine. ![]() Calm Chaos Forum...Join Calm Chaos Now |

This man's computers weren't hidden. I followed the links to his computers and the computer number didn't show up in his list. When I posted in another thread I gave a link to my computers. The teammate that posted the info for me must have also followed links from my pending back to his teammate's name. At least the WU will expire friday and can go out to someone else. I have another that won't expire until mid November. I also noticed I have one that expires on Christmas day. Hope my wingman is still around on that one. ![]() PROUD MEMBER OF Team Starfire World BOINC |

Some of my wingmen's RACs start with a decimal....so all I can do is wait for the expiration date to come up 'cause I really doubt if the wu's will get processed..j |

It's the Couldn't find computer I'm worried about. I've been sitting on a WU just like that for two months. It was issued 8/22 and is not due back until 10/14. I also have a WU issued on 9/1 that is my wingman's only WU listed on his results page. Bet that one get re-issued on the 10/9 deadline. QS |

Hey, we are here for the science, not for the credits. |

Hey, we are here for the science, not for the credits. Yes, I'm here for the science too. But the science won't get done if the BOINC back-end is broken. And it'll only get done slowly if the Berkeley servers are clogged with meaningless results. Sometimes credit glitches are clues to deeper underlying problems. |

A random check of my high credit pendings I found this wu http://setiathome.berkeley.edu/workunit.php?wuid=156195060 with wingman 'couldn't find computer'. Does anyone know what will happen when the deadline passes for the wingman? |

A random check of my high credit pendings I found this wu Computer IDs occasionally change due to machine or OS upgraddes. It is entirely possible that the computer is still working on this task and it will be reported. If the wingman fails to report on time, then the a new task is created from the WU and a new cruncher gets a crack at it. There is a maximum for the number of tasks created from a WU to prevent a bad WU from absorbing CPU power forever. ![]() ![]() BOINC WIKI |
