It's coming up to cold, flu and achoo season..

It is deceptively pleasant here in the Midlands (UK) at the moment but it is only 6 weeks or so until the snotty nosed and sneezing season...

Are you ready!

Catch a cold with me.

I always get a flu shot. I love 'em! In fact it's getting near time for a fix.

I'm always ready for the 'snotty nosed'.....seems to be part of my job description.

I'm sorry, I will not be going for a flu jab this time around. I've already gotten Blue Tongue!

You have got to be joking!!!

15 years ago my company was one of the first to offer these anti flu jabs. So as it seemed sensible, I had one.

I then had a week off work with the nastiest dose of flu that I have ever had in my life. I was not a well person at all.

I know the principle behind it all, give you a small dose, build up your antibodies, less of a hit if you get it for real.

B######s, doesn't work! Didn't with me anyway.

I'm working for a client (Pharmaceutical company) since 7.5 years... believe me... Now, there are not an anti flu drug... The flu changes every year... There are some products what can to alleviate the symptoms, but not to cure them...

That's why I have stopped having a flu-shot every year. I heard that for healthy people like myself, it is only a matter of a half an hour if I have had a flue shot or not, if I am getting a flu I will be sick no matter what. Of course weak and old people should get a shot, they are the most exposed, in case.

The flu shot is an imunization for that year only. For those that take it and are lucky enough to not get sick for the next 2 weeks, it should prevent the flu for the year - assuming that the correct vaccine was produced starting the previous year.

We have 4 at high risk of complications, and we all get the shot.

Keith Richards claimed that years of heroin addiction left him immune to colds and flu. :-O

We get flu shots in the US, too. Today, I believe, is the first day to get them. Last year I got one in the doctor's office. It was listed as two lineitems on the bill, $20 (10 pounds) for the vaccine and $20 for injecting it. This year I think I'll just drive somewhere and get it for $25 (12 pounds) and save some. That's too much. I think we ought to be able to get them for $10 (5 pounds). First, though, I'll check to see if insurance pays for all/part of it. But still I don't like to load the insurance company either, even though it usually talks the doctors down.
