Kinda funny that the only Nay I can remember is from Crunch3r, one of the big time optimizers....

-Dave

He has spent as much work and time as anybody trying to make the optimized apps work for everybody else lately. So you should not diss him, and I respect his opinion, for whatever reasons he has.

I've moved to a couple of different projects while things are sorting out. Once things settle down, I'll bring at least some of my machinery back this way. From what I see on the boards, this is not the time.

I said yea, but the pirate in me would have said Arrgggg. Anyway, I would stay with Seti even if there was no credit. But I would not have spend thousands of dollars to create 10 systems, 6 of which do nothing but Seti 24/7. Nor continute to upgrade them as faster processors and other parts come out.

I wasn't dissing him, I thought it ironic.

And the best Blues Brothers movie quote of all goes to.........

It's 106 miles to Chicago, we've got a full tank of gas, half a pack of cigarettes, it's dark, and we're wearing sunglasses.

A small part of that movie was shot right in my home town. The scene were the Bluesmobile crashes through that truck trailer, it was shot right at the overpass of IL route 12 and IL route 176 in Wauconda*.

*Interestingly enough, Dan Akroyd, who lived in IL for a while and played in both Blues Brothers and Ghostbusters mentioned Camp Wauconda in Ghostbusters. Though there is no Camp Wauconda (and never has been), it is the only other time Wauconda has been made famous and ironically nobody knows it! LOL

[quote]really, I can post in this thread without being deleted by a mod ?

Nah, I don't think they'll let me !

So if this post will be deleted, you can NOT say what you want in this thread either, or anywhere on the forum.

So I guess, yes I feel let down by the hole project,
on more levels than I care to think about really.

Wow.....Your eloquence astounds me. Crunch now or forever hold your peace.

Humm

Just read this thread and am QUITE worried.

So it would seem that my basic human right's to speak, for or against another's opinion or even controversially have my own view, has to be suspended when I submit my ramblings to any of these message boards.

So that would mean that my simple nutters speak or opine will be censored (oh dear I've just used a big word) if others are not able to understand what I am saying.

Humm If that is the case then I will not be hanging around for very long even though I do not understand very much ;)

... So I guess, yes I feel let down by the hole project,

So, you have unrealistic expectations?
Or astronomical hopes?

If you haven't noticed, despite whatever griping or whatever, there is huge POSITIVITY for this project from everyone with the exception of perhaps only two occasional posters that I've noticed.

From what I see, Berkeley are doing a spectacular job juggling a lot of data and a lot of users, and with dedication beyond the call of duty from various of the small Berkeley team.

What more are you looking for?

And all for 'free' and with no obligation other than honesty.

Honest question: Why are you here if this is not what you want?

Regards,
Martin

Worry not, my friend. Honest opinions are ususally respescted around here. It's just the baseless griping that some get tired of.

Speak out, if you really have something to say. We will listen.

Thanks for the picture Logan, that is definately how it feels sometimes when you have an alternative view on things.

and thanks for suggesting that I should not worry msattler.

As for wingeing about stuff thats not my bag. However, if things are removed because someone does not like what is said, that is a breach of the freedom of speech that so many have given their lives for. (I'm not an old soldier or anything like that - just have a lot of respect for those that have given me this right)

I'm only here for one thing and that is to crunch as much as possible with my limited resources and contribute to the whole. If I can help others along the way then that will give ma a lot of pleasure as well.

Greg.

Cool beans! Not too much gets removed around here. I guess that's because most of the folks in NC don't get outta line very often. A very cool thing.

No problem, Logan. It was a funny picture, and appropriate in every respect except for that one little 4-letter word. If you could alter the pic to obscure that one word, or maybe change it to something not obscene, and repost the pic, I am sure we would all benefit from it.

Mark, I'm seeing a whole lotta "yay's", If someone's already left, they probably won't be voting, so a simple 74 yay's, 20 nay's, might not be as accurate as one would think.

Astro - I can believe I am going to say this but I agree with you -
I Rarely come to SETI anymore - and even less to the message boards - Berkeley lied to us again, the last credit adjustment was told to us to be the last. Seems in someone's most intelligent thinking as Berked us again.

I spend thousands of dollars on machines for only one purpose to crunch - and spend thousands of dollars on power to run those machines. I want / need the biggest bang for my investment - just like any investment- you want the most gain. My machines are not corporate owned, and are entirely personal. No corporate or business funding.

27 million BOINC credits do not come cheap!

And BTW - The Kitties are RETARDED !!
