MrGray linked to the BBC Sunday Night Theatre version, released in 1954.

There is also another UK TV version from 1965 with the title spelled out, Nineteen Eighty Four.

And a 1984 release with the title spelled Nineteen Eighty-Four.

That's all IMDB has listed.

I've neither read the book nor watched any of the films that I can recall. Orwell always seemed really paranoid to me, and not just with 1984.

MrGray, I thought you might find this interesting.

9/20/07 DVD released of original classic film starring Richard Burton & John Hurt.

I'm not 100% certain, but I believe there was a version earlier than this one, & I'm pretty sure that I have copies of both in my collection.

However, at the moment, all my videos are packed away as I'm redecorating the house.

Also, I have about 80% of my collection logged on a spreadsheet, but have not had time to finish it.

If/when I come across the info, I'll let you know.
