I am having the same problems. Matt and Eric are working on getting more splitter power online to get more work out to us. Please hang in there for a few more days.

This is becoming a bit of a joke, I've got a machine idle now! (Well, crunching other stuff)

Didn't they realise that when the quorum was dropped from 3 to 2 they'd get through the work in 2 thirds of the time and therefore need to add half as much more more splitter power? Seems like pretty basic maths to me!!!

Woot! I just nearly got 6 WUs (2 actually made it), will wonders never cease?
It doesn't take me long to get nothing done!

If you look at the server status page and Matts latest tech news, you can see they added 12 MB splitters, but are having connection difficulties etc.

Hi Mark, It's actually Matt Lebofsky and Jeff Cobb who are currently slaving over hot servers. Eric is currently on vacation.

I think that most of us are a little frustrated at the current glitches in the smooth flow of WorkUnits, but a bit of patience does help; so does a backup project or two.

For those who would like a reliable, worthwhile, easily customisable back-up you could do a lot worse than Rosetta. The only major downside that it has is the fairly large WUs, which could be an issue to Dial-Up users.

Please persevere with SETI, the current work-in-progress is to alow us to get the new Multi-Beam work from Arecibo out to everyone. This has been running on SETI Beta for the last year or so, but Beta is a much smaller pool of users than Main SETI so a few scaling up problems have been encountered.

Come on Guys, give them a break. Once the problems are sorted will get under-way again. Lets face it, we are all in this together and beefing about down time doesn't really help.

It has been a mess for nearly 3 months. I definitely have patience since my Linux home server will continue to run boinc-client plus other services. But it's a waste of time and possibly electricity when the servers are not accepting results from my linux client (using 5.10.8).

I understand your frustration. It's been a bit of a winding road for a while now. If you are concerned about your rigs not doing any usefull work until Seti gets a few more things sorted out, you could crunch a bit of Rosetta or another project of your liking for a bit to keep the cpus busy.
There are few users on Seti more frustrated than I with the current state of things, but I will keep the faith and crunch whatever I can get as connectivity and splittivity (to coin a word) will allow. I send the kitties over to Rosetta as needed if one of my rigs runs out of Seti work to do.

Keep the faith, my friend. The transistion to MB work is one of the largest transistions in recent Seti history. All of the pieces should fall into place soon. Your patience and that of all of the Seti faithful is to be commended.

Hum- Anyone remember the transition from SETI Classic to Boinc? I wonder how "smooth" that was?

On close of Classic, servers crashed, completely off for days. Tony manned the Q&A board for about 25hrs per day for about three weeks. Others also helped.

Back then SETI Classic is a setup dedicated to SETI@Home.

Now BOINC is a generic platform for multiple projects. There must be something wrong in the design, I believe. Or is it that SETI@Home project has been shrinked to use less servers because of funding?

Seti@Home Classic basically ran out of funding. The only way for it to survive was to use the BOINC platform, which had funding.

Now SETI@home is surviving on donations from users, both monetary and in terms of hardware and corporate donations of hardware.

You can read here...Why classic SETI@home closed down and other facts of life.
