Wow,

We got bumped to the science forum.

Anybody look in these forums any more?

:)

Apparently, not so much.
(But what the heck do I know, huh?)

Well,

This thread will stay alive and well. I'll keep the data flowing.

<=== tutoring Kenzie ;)

Good luck, my friend, but I am truly hopeless when it comes to math.

I remember trying to study the calculus in high school. Mostly I remember vaguely appreciating that it was a beautiful thing, and I remember profoundly not understanding it.

Sorry, I was speaking to kenzieB. Who is this Jen Y Typical Prototype? :)

Why did Stephen Hawking change his mind about his black hole theory?

Way too simplistic methinks. If matter can't be created, where did the universe come from? :D

As I understand the theory it basically boils down to pairs of virtual particles coming into existence near the event horizon.

If one of these particles sinks below the event horizon but the other does not then the one that has escaped has changed from a virtual particle to a real particle.

So in effect, the black hole slowly "evaporates" if is massive or blinks out very rapidly if it has a very low mass.

I'm way too lazy to google all the required references.

That's more than enough data to help us research further on our own.

Thanks Graeme Stretton!

Any thoughts about this video:

I know time is a factor for all of us and some of the data I find is long but you can get an idea from the first few minutes of the video about where it is leading and watch further or hit stop, lol.

Thanks again
