messing around with Depth of field to produce hyper detailed Model effect. That is cool. I have Paint Shop Pro. Do you know if I can do this in Paint Shop Pro? I often see tips for PhotoShop, but not sure if I've had the will to find out if the equivalent works in Paint Shop Pro. flaming balloons |

messing around with Depth of field to produce hyper detailed Model effect. I think it's entirely possible, It's usually something simple like the filter is called something else, I'll check it out Edit I can't fin a decent tut in PSP but I think IX will have the nessasary filters, Have you considered The Gimp as an alternative to Paintshop Pro? it's free to down load and there is a tut here http://www.flickr.com/groups/tilt-shift-fakes/discuss/72057594073514981/ |

messing around with Depth of field to produce hyper detailed Model effect. I don't know but I will look at it another option maybe to simply copy the filter from PS to PSP belive it or not that sometimes works, I will experiment and get back to you :) |

I prefer PSP. It has all the power of the gimp and Photoshop but always (to me anyway) made it seem a little simpler and more understandable. The effect can also be done with either "Blur" or "Soften" and neither need a complex filter. In simple terms you can select the "selection tool" (or use "freehand" if you want to avoid bluring tree tops in the forground") and set "feather" effect in the tools option to a higher number (EG: 4, 10, 20 or whatever depending on the image size.). Then select the area you want to blur (EG: the top). (Select a little less than you want as 'feathering' will add to your selection area.) Then just apply either "Blur" (Avergage) or "Soften" (Soft Focus) <From the "Adjust" menu> to your desired degree. Do a similar task for the bottom of the image. |
