A couple of years ago an Indo-Canadian woman was brutally beaten to death during a visit to India. The reason was that she had made the ‘mistake’ of falling in love with and wanting to marry a man that her family disapproved of. Several members of her family here in Vancouver were arrested and face conspiracy charges. Such events are rare here in the west, but all too common in India, Pakistan, Yemen, Saudi Arabia, and a depressingly long list of other places around the world. It is not PC to say so, but I think that any culture/religion that sanctions the murder of it’s own children is a culture in need of self-examination Yes, Knightmare, the times are changing...but not nearly fast enough. Yes I know, I said I wasn’t going to post in these boards anymore. But I just couldn’t resist this one. Darn that Richard!!! ;) |

Times change, Jeffrey. You either deal with it, or you don't. Oh, I can deal with the rest of you changing, however, FORCED COMPLIANCE is not acceptable in any free society... ;) It may not be 1984 but George Orwell sure did see the future . . . |

It is not PC to say so, but I think that any culture/religion that sanctions the murder of it’s own children is a culture in need of self-examination How about wealthy nations whose children live in poverty while their parents live in abundance? ;) It may not be 1984 but George Orwell sure did see the future . . . |

[There's probably a fine line between the enjoyment/property right and the fear of another man seeing her face. Yep. Correct! (They're also known as "Chasids", more commonly.) |

Right! And let's not forget about sexual equality... Surely men should have to wear them too! |

Definitely below the waist! I mean, have you ever seen some of those fat slobs lolling around on the beach, with their pale fat bellies hanging down over their speedos? It's indecent, I tell you! |

It is not PC to say so, but I think that any culture/religion that sanctions the murder of it’s own children is a culture in need of self-examination Poverty, while unfortunate has, at least in the western world, the ‘cure’ of hard work and diligence. Being murdered by one’s own relatives has a certain finality to it. (And poverty itself, of course, is a very relative term, while being dead is fairly absolute.) I may be wrong (but I don't think so). |

Which is why it is now legal for women to go topless on some beaches in New York. Someone sued, for a woman, and the Judge agreed...if men can go without shirts, women can too if they wish. Some lady was arrested and released a week or so ago, bringing it back to the forefront. |

Definitely below the waist! HEYYYY if you don't know the people at the beach and will never see them again, let them see it all! What are they gonna do, say something? Your modesty is alive and well around your friends, among people you will never see again.... flash em!! |

Poverty, while unfortunate has, at least in the western world, the ‘cure’ of hard work and diligence. Saw Dr. Phil talking to someone yesterday, he was a rich guy but I don't remember who, anyway if you have an idea to get rich and don't take it, it fails! Same thing MIGHT happen if you take the chance and try it, either way a failure is guaranteed if you do not try! |

if you have an idea to get rich and don't take it, it fails! Same thing MIGHT happen if you take the chance and try it, either way a failure is guaranteed if you do not try! This reminds me of one of my TSA experiences... I came up with an idea for an air marshall weapon, submitted it on the TSA website, and the reply I received was, 'sorry to inform you, but we are not accepting ideas at this time'... My reply to them was, 'Well please do let me know when you will be accepting ideas, and in the meantime, why don't you disable your ideas submission web page'... A year later, it was on the market... Not quite as good as the product I had envisioned, but close enough to know that it was based off of my idea, right down to the product name... Go figure... Sorry, but this is the real world, and people lie, steal, and cheat to get ahead in it... ;) It may not be 1984 but George Orwell sure did see the future . . . |

[quote]Definitely below the waist! Mikey! I'm so shocked, I don't know what to say! Fatties on the beach without belly veils?? Why that's...that'...DEPRAVED!/quote] But if you don't know it's me, why would I care what anyone thinks? I mean you know it's someone, but if you and the person involved don't become friends or whatever, why would the "fattie" care what others think? So you think they are fat? That is not news to the "fattie". They are just enjoying themselves just like everyone else, maybe even more so because there is more of themselves to have fun. AND if they enjoy people watching, they might even enjoy the show you, and your friends, will put on looking at the "fattie". |

[quote]Definitely below the waist! "They are just enjoying themselves just like everyone else" is a dangerous rationale when it comes to depravity. Consider the possibilities... I don't dare say them here out loud. LOL You're playing with fire, mikey. Someday someone will come along and kick sand in your eyes! oO. |
