Message 594247 - Posted: 28 Jun 2007, 5:05:29 UTC - in response to Message 593958.

Now, does it matter what kind of bear it is?

We have American Black Bears, Brown Bears, Polar Bears, Panda Bears, Asiatic Black Bears, Sloth Bears, Spectacled Bears (no, they do not wear glasses) and Sun Bears. Oh, and we have Teddy Bears. These are not to be confused with Teddy Boys which should be discussed in a different thread.

Ah, all very important considerations. Also, it might be important to consider the current emotional state of the bear, as well as any past offenses. Teddy Bears are quite harmless so one doesn't need to worry about them.

I have to disagree, A/C. I am thoroughly convinced that Teddy Ruxspin created an entire generation of psychopaths.

From that moment forward, I NEVER went hiking unless I had a firearm with me.

If the sound doesn't scare the bear off, you'll most likely be toast...

Very few handgun calibers will stop a bear... Maybe a rifle or a shotgun, but good luck getting the shot off in time... ;)

Used to be in some States a 44 magnum was allowed to bear hunt.
Now there are some VERY high power custom revolvers that are allowed.
My Uncle and his two Sons still Bear hunt every year with large revolvers as backup only.

No, I don't think it was a rock, Sasquatch has had the upper hand in the new ones.

E.g. like in this. He's not being messed with so much anymore...

Dear me, isn't the answer so obvious.

You simply stand your ground and shout out

"Hey you, animal thing, I'm a SETI Mod!"

Bear disappears at a vast rate of knots to tell all its kith and kin, hey, theres bad things in those woods.....

Wouldn't saying that actually make the bear run away and tell its kin. And then have then all come back and try to get you. With even more determination than before?

Kidding...

Never surrender and never give up. In the darkest hour there is always hope.

I smell badly too..

I thought it said "What do you do if you encounter an Esme ES99"...

Personally I would just love to have been so fortunate...

... and then I would run for the nearest pot of honey....

I don't think so. Boy Teddy Bears are usually more conservative (unlike girl Teddy Bears).

I prefer boy Teddy Bears. "Teddy" Bear means that it's a boy.
