Gosh... I can't even seem to remember what the original topic was... Oh, that's right... America, the 'forbidden' topic... ;) It may not be 1984 but George Orwell sure did see the future . . . |

SNIP I recently read that Iraq had not even been a country before the 20th century. There are at least three separate groups there. They were lumped together into a single country by treaty agreements. (Is this correct?) SNIP Yes. If my school history hasn't completely abandoned me: Formerly Mesopotomia, and parts of Persia (now Iran- the plot thickens,)Iraq was set up as a British-influenced oil-bearing(!) protectorate nation after WW1, following the dismantling of the Turkish Empire. The Kurds are as like to other Iraqis as Greeks are to Turks; and Sunni and Shi'a (Didn't they have a hit in the 60's?)are analogous to Protestant and Catholic: and we know how well they were able to live together in Northern Ireland- until recently. |

I get all my inspiration from the second stanza of Louie Louie..good luck with that one These are the actual Louie, Louie lyrics as copyrighted by Richard Berry, Limax Music Inc. (despite the many incorrect versions out there): "Louie Louie, me gotta go. Louie Louie, me gotta go. A fine little girl, she wait for me. Me catch the ship across the sea. I sailed the ship all alone. I never think I'll make it home. Louie Louie, me gotta go . Three nights and days we sailed the sea. Me think of girl constantly. On the ship, I dream she there. I smell the rose in her hair. Louie Louie, me gotta go. Me see Jamaican moon above. It won't be long me see me love. Me take her in my arms and then I tell her I never leave again. Louie Louie, me gotta go." (By Richard Berry. Copyright 1957-1963 by Limax Music Inc.) Which part do you get your inspiration from again? |

Bump... There is so much truth to be told about several topics in America, it would just burst the entire board if everything where told - and anyway, who were interested in reading it? Account frozen... |

There is so much truth to be told about several topics in America, it would just burst the entire board if everything where told I see lots of eyebrow raising issues worth discussing in the original post... Why don't we start there? ;) It may not be 1984 but George Orwell sure did see the future . . . |
