Here is a link to the machine in question. It is a Core 2 but only SSE2 is listed. Does it use the Intel SSE2 P4 app or one of the others? Thanks, I'm trying to help one of my team mates. Calm Chaos Forum...Join Calm Chaos Now |

For Core Duo use Intel SSSE3 CoreDuo app. |

But SSSE3 is not listed in the list as something his CPU is capable of. Is this a type that BOINC normally does not recognize? Calm Chaos Forum...Join Calm Chaos Now |

My core 2's aren't showing sse3 from BOINC, but I am using those apps. I think you should go by what CPU-Z says with Windows or cat /proc/cpuinfo with Linux. |

For Core Duo use Intel SSSE3 CoreDuo app. Ops, now I see that this is old 'Yonah' CPU, not too familiar with mobile proc's by the way... Should get SSE3 for P-M I think... |

For Core Duo use Intel SSSE3 CoreDuo app. SSE3 for P-M is the only way to go for that computer. Join BOINC United now! |

For Core Duo use Intel SSSE3 CoreDuo app. I don't see an "SSE3 for P-M", only an "SSE2 for P-M" on Simon's Download page. Is that the one you mean? Calm Chaos Forum...Join Calm Chaos Now |

Here is a link to the machine in question. i'm not sure what "sir Ulli " is talking about here ... again. But the for the computer in concern it's a "CORE DUO" .... So to correct my previous mistake ... USE the SSE2 PM version of the optimized app. Join BOINC United now! |

Here is a link to the machine in question. Not sure what he is saying either Crunch3r, but thanks for your response. I'll let him know that SSE2 P-M is the one. Thanks to everyone for their responses. Calm Chaos Forum...Join Calm Chaos Now |

Still not getting your point ... it's obviously a core duo and NOT a Core 2 duo. Anyone able to help me understand what he's talking about or am i missing someting here ??? Join BOINC United now! |

Yep, it is Core Duo (Yonah), not Core 2 Duo (Merom), with SSE3, not SSSE3. |

Whatever, seems as all is quite clear now. @Ivailo Bonev, just out of curriosity why did ya choose the BSD daemon as avatar ? Hopefully you're not putting yourself in the pain of using BSD :P hehe.... Join BOINC United now! |

It's my favorite OS (using on my home machines since ver.4.5), it's a stable, clean and very well documented free operating system. Beasty daemon here is another story, I see somewhere in the net this pic, and I suddenly loved it, becowse its a combination of a BSD Daemon (favorite OS) and Star Wars character (favorite movie). Name of this particular Deamon is a Obi-Chuck Kenobi ;) |

Thing why i asked is, did you ever program on BSD ??? Thing is that i'm porting the optimized source code to freebsd atm... An i'm really feeling sorry for all that guys/galls using freeBSD as main OS. I've seen a lot of things specially on OS part.. starting from Amiga OS up to Solaris and HPUX. Thing is that you really got hit hard with BSD, more than you might know. Anyone here that ever compiled/used a sientific program on FreeBSD ?... Whatever, atm i'm trying my best to get, THE best out of that OS (which might not be much, cuz it's crippled, we'll see...), though it's very very strange ... ever run a bench on linux/windows and ever seen that trigArray is faster than any SSE(X) variant ??? ... Well... must be some crap ... no further comments. You really have my compassion for using that OS. Whatever i do my best to get you optimized ;) Join BOINC United now! |
