Seems as if it's working again.
My Alpha EV67 DS10 got some new WU's finally !

Couldn't have been a better time to fix it ...

now i can try the 2.3A port to Alpha running linux that i finnished today ! :D

So anyone here that can confirm this with the chicken app and app_info.xml for PCs ?

Happy Crunching!

It's confirmed! I'm downloading and crunching WUs now using Chicken's App.

Crunch3r, haven't had to stop using the chicken coop. It's working fine and dandy now.

Good news.

If you were using the Chicken on PC you actually had the chance to rename the app_info.xml to keep crunching with the optimized app.

Unfortunately for those using not supported platforms like me Alpha EV67 on linux , SPARC on Linux, PARISC on hppa etc etc ... you never had the chance to do that trick.

However, finally it's working again :D

I have so far been unable to cause a ghost result, but no scheduler attempt is successful. 100% HTTP Internal Server error for me now. Also upload attempt is failing constantly with HTTP internal server error as well.

IOW, from where I sit, the project is effectively down.

Whee, finally it works again :o)

The other scheduler errors right now aren't creating any more ghost WUs, at least. The servers will catch up eventually; something probably just needs a kick in the NFS mount or the like...

Regards,
Simon.

Every machine I've tried has downloaded work while in optimised state.

So far, so good... I have not gotten a ghost result with a bazillion internal server errors (ok, slightly exaggerated, but you get the point).

However, uploads are still very problematic. I had one go through real easily after it failing for hours, then I downloaded a noisy WU and was done with it in short order...and the upload of that new WU is just hanging there.

Also, work appears to be in very limited supply. I'm getting trickles here and there. We're probably siphoning everything the splitters can give. Now might be a good time for anyone who hasn't exorcised their ghosts to do so... :-)

Final Edit: Oh, for PETE'S SAKE! I'm not going to stay here and post messages about things not working to get them to start working!!! (Translation: The upload of the noisy result...went up just as I was typing how it was just hanging out there...)

I'm just going to read my PHP class material and shut up about all this... LOL

With windows machines, it is "working". For the linux machines, it is another story. if the xml file is present, all WU end up within seconds in computation error.

I am shuting down those machines since it is not working properly.

That's not what I'm seeing on my Linux system.

I'm running Ubuntu 6.10 on a D830 system. I'm running Chicken's 2.2B Application with the full app_info.xml file that was provided with the Application.

I've returned 8 Results and have credit for 6 of them already.

My Linux systems are also behaving normally. Maybe your app_info.xml has a problem because BOINC deleted the science app it points to? May have happened if your cache ran dry while you deleted/renamed it.

HTH,
Simon.

I have renamed app_info.xml back to normal. AMD X2 and my Intel P4 are running Optimized Apps normally now. Will post if I see anything out of the ordinary.

I saw the post about additional splitters. Hopefully that will be soon...otherwise there's likely to be much gnashing of fingers (rants about no work, etc, etc, etc...)

All my machines except one Suse Linux box playing well withthe optimized apps. Will restart the machine and check other settings. Chicken coup apps on all windows machines doing fine, Alex Kan's optimized app doing fine on macs. One linux box running chicken apps running fine. Other not able to upload but downloded fine but uploaded sticky. One odd note had new machines generated on my stats pages foer all my macs.

Yesterday i just used the stock seti client to get me a full work load. Then i installed the chicken app 2.2b. From then on yesterday, i wasn't getting any new work because of the chicken app, but i was happy to just crunch the work i had.

But this morning, without changing anything, i am getting new work with the app still installed.

So it seems to be working properly again as far as i can tell.

Chicken of Angnor, Simon, some thank's should also go to you for creating a very simple to use oppimised app that works very very well.

Thank you Simon.

How is this possible:

I deleted my app_info.xml some days ago because it didn't work. After I restarted my computer, my client still uses the optimized app ("KWSN_2.2B_SSE3-P4_Ben-Joe_GFX.exe") although there is no app_info.xml anymore.

Fortunately, the optimized app works now, but I'm just wondering how that's possible.
