You were being "sincere", but not about burying the hatchet. I'll let the people decide who was being sincere and who wasn't.

Good Night.

The Fours is strong within me tonight.

And Ann Coulter is having a good run too!

Nite, Nite... Blondie...

(hey... I tried... and you see what the result was...)

Sure you did..! And yep, we sure all see what the result was.

See ya around the boards. ;)

I'm late to the discussion.
"Swipage of others' content?"
Are you referring to the posting of cartoons?
How do this, or does this not, apply to posting news articles from elsewhere?
If it is not something someone needs to sign up for and not password protected, how do you defend it being called swiping?

@ Beets...

I offered you a branch and you proceeded to kick it in the dirt... every one here sees that...

If you want a peace, it's on you...

( oh... and while it might stroke your ego somewhat to refer to me as a troll, participants that have been around since the classic days know you're fudging it...)

Good Morning everyone!

Isn't it wonderful that summer is back? Let's go with what you've said you like for breakfast: Eggs with Smoked Salmon, Dill and Lemon.

The new "Daily Funnies" thread will be up shortly. I know many of you enjoy it. Chip Long says the issue matters to him, but not enough to make peace over, apparantly. So..."The Daily Funnies" it is.

You'll find them here: The Daily Funnies - Part III

Enjoy!

This just in...

Barrington Irving, 23 years-old, today became the youngest person ever to fly around the world solo, and in a one engine plane, too. It took him 30 days and he did it to provide hope and example for inner city children.

Well done, Barrington!

I guess. Though somebody didn't get to go to Harvard because Cheryl picked a job that you hardly requires even an associate degree. I wouldn't think she had any trouble at all with the course work.

I was thinking along similar lines, Rush.

That's an interesting point, but consider this, just as a possibility. Balance her Harvard degree against not a patrolman's job, but against the post of Chief of Police for New York City. Then it starts to make sense: an NYPD Police Chief with a Harvard degree. Now, you could still say she's overqualified educationally, but on the other hand, wouldn't that perhaps be a real boon to policing in America? Criminal investigation is becoming ever so more complex. I think that would be a good thing.

Also, bear in mind that she beat out hundreds of males on the physical fitness side, too. That's an important aspect of the Police Academy's curriculum and an athletic achievement in itself.

Maybe. It's still hideous overkill. I wouldn't think A) She'll last that long being underpaid and overworked, an B) politics and unions are what they are, Harvard degree or not. You might be right, but it's *really* attenuated and years down the line.

Also, bear in mind that she beat out hundreds of males on the physical fitness side, too. That's an important aspect of the Police Academy's curriculum and an athletic achievement in itself.

I would bet that NYPD physical standards differ for males and females, just like in the Army. Not really any real comparison there.

What can I say? It seemed newsworthy at the time. :)

England's own homeboy Tim Henman is out of this years Wimbledon:

Poor Tim, he has never got to the top at Wimbledon, they have so high hopes for him and they cheer him so much, but year after year he's being beaten there. :-(

Heyas, Fuzzy!

I think they've been relying on Tim Henman to often, and for too long. He's getting old for the game. They should start fresh with younger players to groom them to make it to the top.

Sometimes it had looked like they had given him a wildcard, other times he has played a decent play, but he had never made it to a winning position. His play is very bland, nothing to write home about.

Besides the Le Mans race I also always watch Wimbledon tennis every year...

I watch it too, but usually not until the quarter-finals. Tennis is another sport that the 'rules' have ruined, imho. Tennis used to be interesting to watch, with lots of different competing styles, maneuvering and just generally running around between the backcourt and the forecourt. For a few years now, it's just a 'power' game, mostly decided by the use of one main skill: power serving. It much less entertaining than it used to be. They should change the rules to bring the game back to what it was, imho.
