Yo,

Gimme an easier way to donate internationally, I don't have a credit card. International Money Order costs at least 10 euros for fifty bucks.

Olli from Finland

You have a bank account? You can attach a bank account to a PayPal http://www.paypal.com/us/cgi-bin/webscr?cmd=_home and then you can send money using the PayPal link on the Chicken site, click the PayPal link in my sig.

From what I read at http://setiathome.berkeley.edu/donate.php you can also do a bank to bank wire transfer. This is out of my expertise so I'm just passing the info along. Check out the http://setiathome.berkeley.edu/donate.php site for more details on how to donate.

To Fuzzy and SpaceKadett,

No way to do any transfers without a credit card. It necessitates an international transplant in my brain. Hopefully that is more than it takes, since I refuse to pay too much in percentile for a small donation. PayPal, of course, requires an american bank account. No way to do the connection here. Alas.

Don't know if someone has been working on the system right now, but I got error-messages like Jaegermeister the last 8 or 9 hours (last successful contact was the upload of my last result around 18:15 UTC after trying to upload my last WU for 6 hours) ...

... until I restarted the BOINC manager a few minutes ago (another project could not connect to its server so I tried this) - and suddenly the results were accepted and I could download 3 fresh WUs!!

So maybe restarting the BOINC manager could also help others - sometimes I have the impression the BOINC client can get a bit clobbered

Thx for your work with the hickupping hardware and network ...

PayPal does definitly not require an american bank account. They offer their service in Finland, too. It is just you have to talk english (localization is missing).

Zentrallabor:
After reading your post, I restarted BIONIC, since I too had 10 results which had been unable to report... It went fine after the restart!! Thank you for the information.

This is what PayPal tells me. I suspect they haven't a collaboration with my bank. I tried, but naah.

I have a PayPal account and I have my Danish Mastercard and my Danish bank account attached to it.

And PayPal is far the cheapest way to transfer money internationally. I have transferred money to China, Australia, USA, England, Germany, other places, with it. The receiver of the money is charged a small fee for receiving the money, but Simon has offered to pay that and transfer the money uncut to Berkeley.

You can see on their site how high the fee is, but no bankers check is cheaper.

And a PayPal account is great to have, if you like to buy things online.

Ja, you will have to go to your bank and transfer the money to your PayPal account (maybe a banking account at a finish bank, not sure), at least this is how it works over here. Then you could transfer from your PayPal account to any PayPal account you want to.

Hello,

I tried to accomplish an account with PayPal, surely.
The problem is that they, the PayPal, do not have an agreement/association with my bank, which is OKO.
If OKO doesn't approve of PayPal, it must just be because not enough of the bank's customers have demanded it. You can see, that OKO is not on the list of Finnish banks supported. They may do that in the near future, but not right now.

I would be more than willing to support my hobbyist venues by supporting the SAH.

For now, let's concentrate on the real issue - posting some credits on some other projects.

I cannot sleep either, had a few alcoholic relaxants.

Take it easy now!

Best regards Olli

That explains why you have problems to understand. Maybe you try reading at PayPal again if your sober. Their policies and selfmade rules are irritating enough.

Take it easy now!

I do. Good night, Good morning, and so on.

re: Urs

What is your extra cost of sending money to the PayPal account?
By money transfer?

For me it is free: 0.00€, because my bank account is free. But that should be the normal fee you have to pay for a national money transfer (bank to bank) if you have to pay for your banking account. PayPal does not take fees from you if you transfer money from your attached banking account to your PayPal account.

re: Urs

Haven't you heard of the Bahamian session, where the "birds" (wives, girlfriends) support us in general, providing bbqs, sodas, chips, beer, and someone suggested tree-hangers (don't know the word in english). Us scientists would have to measure gravitational field or -flux changes (lying and being well served) based on the laser anomalities. Join the club. For now it only has a few volunteer observers, but I expect the number to be rising. Self-funded expedition. I guess. -Or is it?
