E85 is a good idea only if it can be made from the corn stalks instead of the corn kernels. Making it from the corn kernels uses someplace between 0.9 and 1.1 gallons of diesel to produce the same energy from the corn (not as clean as you thought). E85 made from corn stalks and other such items such as saw dust, wheat stalks, the smelly stuff out of the kitchen garbage can, can write off most of the energy costs as being used anyway to grow food.

Wisdom is recognizing the snake oil salesmen for what they are.

If it looks too good to be true, then it probably isn't true.

Raw data does not increase education, you just get lost in the raw data - especially if some of it is false. Education takes guidance (which is why we have teachers) to pick the books that can be understood at the level of education that the student currently has, and to winnow out the falsehoods.

I wasn't calling anyone on these boards a snake oil peddler. But the people that make a serious claim that they have created an engine that gets power from nothing are indeed either charlatans or fools.

If someone actually succeeds, it turns much of physics on its head. Like all extraordinary claims it needs absoloute proof, and Men In Black ate my homework does not constitute proof at all.

Perhaps you should actually read some physics texts especially about thermodynamics?

This threads name has been misinterpreted, though I don't see the trouble with it. Nowhere does it say free or perpetual energy.

Anyway, in the Perpetual Motion link above you can read whats behind the so called law of Conservation of Energy.
To quote the gist of it:
