As reported by MISFIT on 9 Mar 2007 1:22:59 UTC Maybe we in Europe should have a Captain European Economic Union. You could draw him as a piffling bureaucratic squirt with brussel sprouts as his main weapon. This is Captain Euro: flaming balloons |

They all live in Brussels, the european capital, and prabably sprout nonsense most of the time. Personally, I quite like brussel sprouts with my Christmas dinner, but keep clear of them any other day. flaming balloons |

I'm just surprised that (once again) the comic book industry needs to kill an ICON (Spiderman has "died" in the past and did you know Thor is currently deceased?) to get the attention of the public. I know that(more than likely) Cap will be resurrected and that his death was part of an allegory on "Individual rights and The Patriot Act", but it seems hollow to me. I've always enjoyed loosing myself in the pictures and stories (I read big boy books too!) and was saddened that, when seemingly America needs him the most, he was cast aside. If you haven't picked up a comic in years, you might be very surprised at the change in artwork and dialog. It has come a long way. Addressing many current and controversial issues. DONATE TO SETI |

Hi Guys, I know that he will eventually return and that they DO have a right to do what they will with the character, but it is just a shock to a long time reader/fan. To tell the truth, I'm surprised some Americans aren't up in arms! Capatain America has always stood for family values and Mom and apple pie! Where is the famous American Patriotism? I would expect apathy from Canadians, but from the US? There was more of an uproar when Coca Cola changed the formula!! DONATE TO SETI |

To tell the truth, I'm surprised some Americans aren't up in arms! It's a cartoon character. Marge: Oh no! It's eating us! Homer: Not a chance! Bart: Wow, dad, how did you do that? Homer: It's a flower... Cordially, Rush elrushbo2@theobviousgmail.com Remove the obvious... |

It's a cartoon character. Tell me you aren't trying to compare a cartoon character that a few people like, to what is likely the most popular beverage on the planet? Let alone comparing the number of people who purchase the two. Cordially, Rush elrushbo2@theobviousgmail.com Remove the obvious... |

It's a cartoon character. Let's have a look at google Type in Captain America = Results 12,400,000 for Captain America. (0.05 seconds) Type in Coca Cola = Results 25,600,000 for Coca Cola. (0.04 seconds) HHHMmmmmmm.....they both seem pretty popular? And considering that Marvel Comics doesn't have the distribution power nor the advertising budget that Coca Cola does......oh and comics aren't loaded with addictive caffeine.......and they don't have celebrity shills....do I need to keep going? Point being, it's pretty surprising. At least some of the press is aghast. I can appreciate that your not a fan, can you appreciate that I am? Thanks for your comments regardless, Paul DONATE TO SETI |

Let's have a look at google Jeebus. A) Any number of those Captain America hits are reprints of the same news story about him being killed off, over and over and over. Not to mention all the wheezy kids that are all up in arms, and commenting about it. You know, the type that has to use "graphic novel" to refer to a comic book? The numbers would have been quite different a month ago. B) Google results aren't a good measure of popularity, per se. Sales numbers, on the other hand, are. Something that Coke excels in and Captain America, well, they felt they had to kill him off because they needed to generate more interest. HHHMmmmmmm.....they both seem pretty popular? And considering that Marvel Comics doesn't have the distribution power nor the advertising budget that Coca Cola does......oh and comics aren't loaded with addictive caffeine.......and they don't have celebrity shills....do I need to keep going? If you think it's helping your position, by all means. Go right ahead. But let's look at your numbers. When I searched "Captain America" in quotes, on Google just moments ago, I came up with 2.28 million. When I searched "Coke," I came up with 31 million. Those numbers aren't even close. Google still isn't representative in that way, but you can see the point. Point being, it's pretty surprising. At least some of the press is aghast. I can appreciate that your not a fan, can you appreciate that I am? Surprising to you maybe, but the press is just bleating a kewt human interest story. I loved Captain America when I was a kid. Used to draw him (poorly), all of the time. But you didn't say "I am a fan and this is crap." You compared a relatively minor cartoon character to the most popular drink on earth, as if there were some valid comparison there. I'll stand with my original response to the lack of "uproar." It's a cartoon character. Cordially, Rush elrushbo2@theobviousgmail.com Remove the obvious... |

I loved Captain America when I was a kid. Used to draw him (poorly), all of the time. Doesn't it bother you deep down inside somewhere? That the character you identified with as a child, has had it's Brilliant Shine dulled? May I ask you, what was it that you liked about Captain America? DONATE TO SETI |

I loved Captain America when I was a kid. Used to draw him (poorly), all of the time. First Captain America dies and now Mr. Rush seems to have lost his voice. I was looking forward to his response too. SIGH! I'm getting used to disappointment. DONATE TO SETI |
