Message 523720 - Posted: 26 Feb 2007, 19:13:57 UTC

Very recently both my machines began giving these kinds of remarks.

26-2-2007 19:53:47|SETI@home|Task 06mr00ab.22092.31952.609658.3.38_4 exited with zero status but no 'finished' file

anyone know what the cause is?

One machine has been crunching for forever and never had these kinds of remarks. Recently a new machine was added and now both have these remarks.

BTW the old machine is running the old 5.8.8 version while the new machine is running the new 5.8.11 version.

Something in the workunits maybe?

Nothing to do with workunits.

Version 5.8.11 of BOINC introduced a new bug which put these remarks into the message log every time the CPU switches tasks. According to the developers, these messages are "bogus" and "harmless", and you should either ignore them, or upgrade to BOINC v5.8.15 - DON'T reset the project.

Version 5.8.8 of BOINC doesn't have this bug, so if your 'old' machine is listing the same remarks, then you have a real problem and should investigate further. I don't know what the most common 'genuine' causes for this message are - maybe some else can help?
