Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
Why do you run SETI@home?
I like the Seti@home program very much. If not for the possibility of finding Extraterrestrial life, only for the experiment of decentralized mass computing that is going on. Just the fact that it is possible to mobilize so much computing power when necessary is awesome by itself. And hey, imagine that we DO find signals. The world would be too small then.

Thoughts about ETI
Personally I think life is out there. I can't believe that we would be the only occurence or life. Whether that life is intelligent enough for signals I don't know. I believe some life out there is and some life out there isn't. We'll just have to see and that is exactly what we're doing right now.
I haven't got the foggiest whether finding ET would be a danger or not. If they have the technology to come here I personally believe that they will also have out-evolved us and be less warlike than we are. So i don't really think there would be a danger. And yes I think we should transmit ourselves. That just increases the change of an encounter because they have a chance of detecting us as well.
