Outside of the Bible, some have claimed tracing through the genealogies and other things provided that it shows creation occurred about 6000-7000 years ago. When I pointed this out to a friend with quite fundamentalist leanings, he responded: "That's not in the Bible." So, you will not necessarily find them believing the universe is less than 10000 years old.

Science seems to have become the enemy when a certain religion was so empowered as to believe it had all the answers, and had the right and duty to enforce all thought amongst it's members.

But not quite. And NONE of this issue and problem has anything to do with people 'knowing all the answers'....or having some sort of 'superior knowledge' over the rest of us. It's all of this belief..not part.. It's fundamentlly against reason.

Deal with it there, sir. And replace it with common sense, rational egoism. Let man be his master. Trust me, your woman will love you for it.

Precisely. What benefits all befallen people worldwide and without exception has been the influence of science and reason. There has been no force in history that liberates all individuals qua individual than the impetus of egoistic science.
