There were no cars in sight, so standing and waiting for the green light to walk over by seemed like a waste of time to me. Common sense rules... I am a human being fully capable of excersisng my judgment according to the circumstances. And you would be more likely to pass the 'police level' advanced driving test in the UK Beethoven. In fact, you would be penalized for making a signal when there is no-one to see it, and for making one when your intended action was so obvious that there was no point. What do you do if your are in a car at a red light which just won't change - it's stuck at red?
