I have a 2MB broadband connection, but I'm lucky if I'm getting 1MB right now. I can't figure it out. Who's stealing my bandwidth? I blame either God or Chuck. I'll get back to you when I have figured out which of the two it really is. (Misfit goes scott free on this one, lol.) Capitalize on this good fortune, one word can bring you round ... changes. |

It's all about your contention ratio. I contest the existence of this so-called contention radio. Capitalize on this good fortune, one word can bring you round ... changes. |

It could also be that sysctl's TCP send/receive windows have been automagically reset to 32/128 KB... Just guessing wildly. |

I have a 2MB broadband connection, but I'm lucky if I'm getting 1MB right now. I can't figure it out. Who's stealing my bandwidth? I only thought about that yesterday, realizing it was unsecured. "It was my neighbors!" I thought. They're doing all their ebay an' stuff on my bandwidth! So I applied a WEP key to my broadband router and spent half the night trying to get my wireless laptop to connect. BUT! I'm still at half pace. Who's tapping into to it, or is it leaking away? flaming balloons |

It's all about your contention ratio. Yes it is, sorry, I meant cable as opposed to telephone line. flaming balloons |

Actually, are you using any torrent apps? ISPs might throttle you if you're uploading more than what you're downloading. Oh, now that could be a possibility although I haven't used my torrent app much lately. However, I've been uploading all my SETI@home and SETI beta from a little collection of PC's - that couldn't be doing it, could it? Being penalized for uploading my results? Surely not. flaming balloons |

Actually, are you using any torrent apps? ISPs might throttle you if you're uploading more than what you're downloading. I would think using torrents would be dragging you down much more than Boincing. I think. Capitalize on this good fortune, one word can bring you round ... changes. |

Unless you're sending a whole smörgåsbord of WUs back simultaneously, it shouldn't be enough to trigger the throttling... :-/ I think this'll be the Mystery of the Day. |
