It was a glorious fall weekend here in the Pacific Northwest

The environment is always beautiful up here... I'll be sad when it comes time to move on... Again... ;)

Here, the summer continues with temperatures about 25 degrees C. They have started to call it "The summer that won't die". Plants have started to bloom again, they think it's still summer, and the migratory birds haven't shown signs of a soon departure.

Weird.

It can be very colourful in England as well. The trees here are just starting to change colour but it's rainy at the moment.

Northern Michigan can be exceptionally beautiful if we are lucky and don't have strong winds blow the leaves down before they reach their full colors.

How are the fall leaves looking where you live? It was a glorious fall weekend here in the Pacific Northwest, and the leaves are beginning to change and even fall. Apples and pears are just piling up on the ground, and the sky was a shimmering blue. September is so perfect here, my favorite month. The ocean is even "warm" this time of year.

The elm trees are dropping their seeds. The cherry blossums are nearing the end. Leaves are budding. Man it gets earlier and earlier every year....in the southern hemisphere at this time of year.

Here in Scotland it gets later and later each year, and spring gets earlier. It feels nice, but worrisome, us hardy Celts (or whatever) are used to Spartan conditions, will it make us softies?

We've seen that here in Southern Illinois...Pear trees and Lilac bushes blooming in the first days of autumn...Very strange indeed.

Dan, is that unusual, aside from being strange? I wonder how that will affect the plants come the next spring.

It's very rare...As far as what effect it will have on the plants...that is unknown...It doesn't seem to be a good thing though...But we'lll just have to wait and see next year's results.

Being sister to my brother, who's a gardener, I've learned: It's a problem, because at the autumn, the plants are getting ready for winter and with this frost on our latitude with withdrawing the sap from the leaves to the stems and to the roots. So when they keep on blooming and keep the leaves on till long into the autumn months, because it's warm enough to be summer for them, and the frost then suddenly comes, they suffer, because the sap is still in the leaves and flowers. So they are much more vulnerable in a frostwinter, and they will have a set back next spring, because they haven't gathered strengs and nourishment enough in the roots.

Those photos are beautiful, Captain. I, too, wish I were there.

Anyone else with "change of season" pix?
