My ex and I was out on an evening walk, and then we saw something, a light ball flying in the air. It flew quite slowly, and it didn't look like anything else, we've seen before. And a little later we heard the jets. The next day in the newspaper it said on the frontpage, that an UFO were spotted, and that two of the fighter jets from the Danish Airforce had followed it from the German border up to about 500 kilometers along the western coast of Jutland, and then it disappeared in thin air. It could be a ball lightning, or a meteorite, nobody never gave an explanation of what it was. So it was a genuine Unidentified Flying Object we saw that night. Some years later I saw a similar light ball flying in almost the same way, which exploded, but that was established as a meteorite. Hey Rush, I didn't at the time but it was the jets which made me remember the entire day as reality and not some dream I have had as a child. The ball of fire was traveling slowly overhead disapearing over trees in the distance that obscured the horizon and by then the jets were approaching. The sound came first as they approached, finding them I recognized the sillouettes against the lighter sky and they too were as slow as the object, too slow. This made me think then they were following it, that and the fact you don't see a ball covered with fire floating across the sky everyday. Just as the jets past overhead the flame and smoke trail more than doubled and the jet pointed its nose almost straight up and disapeared. It was traveling directly away form me then and the light from the engine just dimmed and disapeared. We often heard sonic booms in that part of Kansas being so close to Forbes AFB but on this day there were none, it was also the first time I had actually seen a fighter jet in the sky. We lived in a rual area north of Topka and never could find a report in any media outlet of anything ever occuring on that day. The recognition of the use of the afterburner was because I have watched it on TV and filled in the blanks in retrospect. I also have not since talk about it with the two brothers that were with me that day and they were the ones looking for other reports about it with my Mother. ID: 424887 ·
