Is it possible to configure the duration of the "Snooze" I believe it currently is set to 1 hour. I'd like to change this with a perference, preferably per machine.

Don't know exactly what you mean by "snooze". If you are talking about the time between switching projects, that is configured in your preferences online. If you are talking something about a screen saver timeout, that would be in your computer's preferences. If you could explain in a little more detail exactly what you mean by "snooze" then we can give you a more definate answer.

Sorry should have been more clear. From the BOINC manager icon in the task bar you have the option to "Snooze" that suspends processing for 1 hour. I'd like the ability to configure that so I could cause a 2 hour snooze so I can fire up a large compile and leave for lunch knowing that the compile won't have to compete with BOINC.

I believe the way the snooze works is while snooze is checked, it is suspended. When you uncheck snooze it counts down 1 hour and then starts back up.

@ Pooh Bear,
Thanks for the answer on this.
I run a Linux version so I didn't even know anything about a "snooze" feature. Must not be available on Linux.

You shouldn't have any problem compiling while running Boinc and any project apps, since *any* user process takes precedence over the Boinc processes. Boinc is set to run at the lowest priority so it will not take resources away from any application that requests them, and that means *all* applications or commands started by you, the user. Even many system processes will pause boinc if they have a higher priority than boinc. I have compiled apps on Linux many times and while they were already long compile times, I didn't notice any of them taking any longer than usual. I compiled the X-Window system on Linux twice, once without boinc running and again with it running. Didn't notice any difference in times, but I did notice that the percentage of the wu crunched had risen only a tiny amount when boinc was running.

On Windows machines I'm afraid this doesn't appear to be true. If I'm running a long compile but not otherwise touching the machine (i.e. no keyboard or mouse action) BOINC starts running tasks slowing my compile. Since my compiles run more than an hour I'd like to Snooze for more than an hour. My wishlist request would be for it to be setable in the ...override.xml

Me too! Or if I could just click the same snooze button five times and have it snooze for five hours, that would be fine!

Maybe it would be more intuitive to Right Click snooze and select 1 thru 24 from a drop-down menu.

Hey, it's a wish-list, right?!

Hey, it's a wish-list, right?!

Sure... for Seti. Not for BOINC. :-)

BOINC has its own forums here, with a wish list thread in the Boinc Manager forum.

Yet talking about snooze, do you press the Snooze button on your clock (radio) 5 times each morning so you can continue to sleep for another 5 times the snooze setting?
