Could people having the "error 3 path not found" messages please post details of their machines, especially which firewall you use?

Thanks,

Eric

Regarding the over abundance of -9 overflow results, these tend to come in batches. It's usually not so much of a problem when we are running 6 splitters at once because 5/6th of the work units will be coming from other tapes.

I've upped the number of enhanced splitters to 2 so this should become less of a problem.

The graphics are not working with seti@home enhanced. A friendly person answered my question by saying that you are working on this problem.

Me, friendly person ( :-) ), said it doesn't crash on all results. I've run an SE result with graphics on (tried 3 times), no problems. I ended it correctly. :)

Although those people with problems with their graphics, can you point to the result that crashed, plus what BOINC version, OS and videocard (plus drivers) you use? It could be helpful for Eric.

First let me say that if this is the wrong place to post this let me know so that I can quickly move it to the proper thread but I think this is the right place to put it so here it goes.

I have a problem were Boinc chrashes and says that it' cannot contact the local host. I have tried manually selecting the lacalhost by using the "select computer.." from the dropdown menu which did not resolve the issue. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling the Boinc client which did not solve the problem. Eienstien still runs fine if I remove the folder from projects that contains the SETI files and the SETI files (all reference the 5.12 client) from slot zero on the computer. Finally sometimes when I close the Boinc client the graphics for SETI Enhanced pop up and the program starts running a 100% of the Cpu while Boinc is closed and all fo the refeneces to Boinc are gone from the processes tab of the task mangler.

I don't know if this is just a problem on my end but it has happened on three of my computers and I am starting to get concerned. A 900mhz celeron (Win XP Pro), A 400mhz PII(Win 2000 pro) and an AMD Athalon XP 2800+ (Win 2000 pro).
I have been running the latest version of Boinc(5.2.13) since it was released. The only way that I have been able to solve the problem was to by hand delete the BOINC folder and all of it's contents after uninstalling the program. After reinstalling the program and downloading a fresh version of the apps from SETI@Home every thing worked again. At first it occured on the cleron and the PII when Boinc downloaded the new 5.12 app for SETI and I had already cleared the work queue so harm was done in deleting the BOINC Folder but now after several work units of both 4.18 and 5.12 have been crunched by the AMD it got the same error as the other two with Boinc. I have very little clue what is causeing these crashes but they seem to be associated with the 5.12 seti app.

I can provide any additional information if it is needed about the particulars of each machine if needed, but since the chrashes are multiplatform and all of the computers have at least 192MB of ram I don't think that it is platform related.

Thanks in advance for any halp that can be provided and hopefully this can help someone else that is incoutering a similar problem.

P.S. as I was writing this blurb another computer 730mhz PIII (Win XP Pro) crashed with the same errors as above.

With a name and RAC like this you think that's strange? ;)

<core_client_version>3.19</core_client_version>

Right...

At least his website (though under construction) has an email address.

You're right the name says it all :D

anyhow i don't know how he managed to get work with a boinc version older than 4.x
Thought that downloading Wus is disabled for such old boinc clients....

With a boinc client 3.19 he should not even get work

I see i just posted the same thing as crunch3r. I thought the cut off was at cc 4.19.

edit for typo
98SE XP2500+ @ 2.1 GHz Boinc v5.8.8

And God said"Let there be light."But then the program crashed because he was trying to access the 'light' property of a NULL universe pointer.

This computer can crunch the 4.18 units just fine. About 2/3 of the 5.12 units are erroring out in 1-2 minutes.
The error code is the same in each case:

One thing I see is that you are using
<core_client_version>5.2.6</core_client_version>

This may be contributing to the problem, I would look at upgrading to 5.2.13 which may clear the issue...

Welcome to Seti BOINC

Without being able to look at your hosts it is very hard to determine what might be happening... Your prefrences selected hides the machines from those that can look and see things that would allow intelligent guesses... Allowing people to view under Seti@home preferences "Should SETI@home show your computers on its web site?" still maintains "Privacy."

So if those that help can not see the machines in question then they say nothing...

You are more than welcome to look at UserID 2277 me to what another user would see for information that is visible.

Just had 42 computation errors in a row, 0 process time. Now can't download units because I have already had too many today! Never had any problems until now. If the enhanced Seti isn't stable why release it?

Seti enhanced has been quite stable for me in the month that I've beta tested it. Perhaps if more people had beta tested it, these errors would've been located and fixed whilst it was still in the beta phase!

The universe is a pretty big place. It's bigger than anything anyone has ever dreamed of before. So if it's just us... seems like an awful waste of space. Right?

Sorry about that. I just changed the settings so that others can look at the computers via my name AnimasterZ (i can't seem to get the link working like you did Pappa). I am trying an experiment currently where I got the 5.12 app to run without boinc working properly to see if after the current workunit clears if the problem goes away.

Again thanks for looking into the issue.

Well to be honest these problems started with 5.12 in beta test and they have been reported there more than once.

That's why i can't understand why Eric relased it to the public.
