One purpose of a "screen saver" is to prevent crt burn in (some of us still use crts). The new seti@home screen saver has all this cool moving-parts stuff, but the huge seti@home logo just sits there frying the corner of the screen. Any chance someone could get that to bounce around too?

We've asked the developers about this a long time ago. They know it is a problem, but there will be no changes to the screensaver for now.

An easy work around is to take the better_banner.jpg in your \\BOINC\\projects\\setiathome.berkeley.edu\\ folder and edit it with a picture editor (photoshop or paint shop pro), then fill in everything with black, save the file back. That will make the picture disappear, impossible to burn in.

Deleting the picture is no use, it'll be downloaded again at the next time Seti contacts the server.

Yeees :P Some people like this "sea sick effect", some people don't. But I wonder why it was used as an argument for using a new client to avoid frying monitors? ;J Thought it was possible to trim a bit the Classic client to show the graphs once above the stats, once below, exchangeably ;J and the anti-frying effect would be the same...

Some people used the screen saver as a reason to switch to the new client, to avoid frying monitors? I think you've misunderstood somebody, SasQ.

I wish I still had Matt LeBofsky's link that outlines the specific reasons why we had to leave SETI@Home Classic behind. Perhaps someone else has the link for me one more time?

@OzzFan1
You must be getting lazy it only took me less than 1 minute to locate it.

Why classic SETI@home is closing down and other facts of life.

edit
adding an original Seti-Boinc page of explanation on the
SETI@home's transition to BOINC

No problem the BOINC Wiki and BOINC miniFAQ are my friends and contain all knowledge.
