Message 243343 - Posted: 5 Feb 2006, 23:29:36 UTC
Last modified: 5 Feb 2006, 23:38:28 UTC

I changed my email address, got the confirmation email, clicked the link, and got verified - that part's okay - but in the process, I got disconnected from my team. Not a problem, I thought - I'll just rejoin.

But ... when I tried, I get the following error message (from http://setiathome.berkeley.edu/team_display.php?teamid=30188):

can't read ../cache/f3/team_display.php_teamid%3D30188%26sort_by%3Dexpavg_credit%26offset%3D0; lastmod 1139179809

Any help, suggestions? Or is something borken on the server?

(followup) Apparently it's the team display function, rather than the join function. I was able to display a different team, use the "Join" link, then change the team number to 30188 and the rest of the process worked - I'm back on the original team - but I still get the same message when I attempt to view the team.

You don't have to join SETI.USA. You could also join team Fark.

It's the team of the sort of like news website.

Of course, you could ALWAYS "Crunch for the team that started it all"... The Planetary Society!!!!!!!

Just my humble opinion!

Actually, I was a charter member of the Planetary Society, as well as being a member of the National Space Institute and an L5'er. Of them all, L5 was the one that held the most attraction for me, mostly because of a single line printed in its first newsletter, that "our clearly stated long range goal will be to disband the Society in a mass meeting at L5" ... I really liked to dream in those days!

Somewhere along the line, though, I realized that the real stumbling block to reaching the stars was (and is) less a matter of practical science than it is of practicing politics (hack, spit). So now I believe that best chance we have (with the possible exception of an impending global cataclysm) to "get there" may be with the help of ET, and we've got to *find* him first!

So participating here is just my way of keeping a little tiny bit of that dream alive, perhaps for those who come after - I have little hope that it will happen in my life time, and even if it should, rather doubt that I'd qualify to be a part of it.

Stats and being part of a team just add a bit of fun to that!

Hmm ... I think I may have just written my profile...

I applaud you sir! I did notice you are no longer a member of "TPS" team, perhaps you would re-think? We really DID help "start it all" and those of us who came up from SETI-1 to SETI-II are STILL pushing for TPS! Sure we are only like #15 in team rankings, but WE CAN DO BETTER if we get the support of those who believe in their philosophy! Sure a lot of 'classic' crunchers (me being one) stayed to the bitter end, but I came to SETI 2 with ALL the horsepower I could muster, ready to continue my quest, and looking for more!

My "Goal" (even if frowned on) is 1 million bobble-head-cobble-thingies which I should reach in about 5 years...... (unless I hi-jack a corporate network) but I have done 160K in about a month and a half (since Classic closed)... and can be PROUD of that! I compete with MYSELF... to be the best I can, and root for my TEAM..... what more can I do? Nothing I know of!

I think there's a misunderstanding - I've never been a member of the TPS team - just a member of TPS itself once upon a time.

Congratulations - I did much the same ... in fact, as far as we can tell, I had the dubious distinction of returning the last Classic WU for TLC. I hadn't actually planned to come over to BOINC, but what else to do with some slightly used computer hardware that was essentially "designed for DC" after all? I'll probably never build another machine just for DC, but I'll keep the ones I have running as long as it's reasonable.

However, we've drifted from the topic so I believe I'll stand down on this one to prevent further forum pollution. Cheers!
