Do you mean duplicates of the same machine with different stats? If so, the duplicates can be merged...

Log into your account on the homepage.

Scroll down to View Computers and click on it.

Click on the computer ID for one of the duplicates.

There will be a link at the bottom of the page called "Merge this computer"...click it.

Select it's alter ego and merge the two.

Only reasonably identical machines can be merged...look to the computer description to figure this out.

What errors?

computer name
1957644 bb2.brandon 100.71 3,028.55 GenuineIntel

1957703 bb.brandon 120.74 4,085.69 AuthenticAMD

324573 bb1 121.76 46,619.66 AuthenticAMD

2079801 bb1 0.00 0.00 AuthenticAMD

1957143 bb1 69.62 4,369.23 AuthenticAMD

328880 bb2 87.30 25,768.39 GenuineIntel

This is what I get in show all host. I don't know where the name brandon came from. Also in merge computers, it does not give the option to merge. The computer name of bb1 (all three) is the same computer. One of the enters came from the orginal install, another came from a reinstall after a wipe and reload, and the last came from updating to the lates BOINC. bb1 has not had any hardware upgrades. I have three computers, named bb, bb1 and bb2.

Any help will be greatly appreciated!

The name of the computer is only seen by the participant, not by others.
BOINC takes the name from the computer when you register and it is given a hostID. So you should look around on the computer or computers in question what their names are. Check the System properties, Network identification. The full computer name is that what shows up here.

As to why you can't merge the one that is in the list 3 times, I don't know. Maybe that Seti has database problems. If you click on my name, the Credit and Recent average credit notations are corrupt. I'd just try to merge again in a couple of days.

Hi kilowatt,

We can't see your machine's names, so it's a little diifcult to advise on that. I general, the Seti DB only allows merging computers with both identical HW and OS configuration, and which has no pending results. Even then, there are instances on which the system doesn't recognize two computers as the same. Just recently, during the Dec/05 outage, Seti created a new host for me, completely out of the blue. The only difference was the performance data gathered in the last benchmark.

Wait until their results are finished and removed from Seti DB (showing "Results: 0"). After that, you can either merge or delete them. Don't worry: if you delete a computer, you don't loose the credits associated with it. And if the selection list doesn't show your "clone", try reversing the merge, meaning: if merge A to B doesnt work, try merging B to A.

Btw, Seti takes the names of the computer as they're defined in your network.

Regards,
Wander

Sorry, but you can merge computers with pending results. You cannot delete hosts with pending credits or any results still visible in the list of work sent/returned.

To finish cleaning up your account, if you wish, you can click on the link in "Hosts older than 30 days not shown. Show all hosts." You've got one machine showing there, GenuineIntel Pentium Microsoft Windows 98 SE, (04.10.2222.00) with no results showing. It can be safely deleted.
