Hello, I have had a few power outages today that have shut down my PC. Upon startup, my BOINC client seems to have lost all of the work that was currently in progress (SETI and others). Having said this, there are many work files that I can still see in my project folder on the hard drive. In addition, when BOIC started up after the abnormal shutdow, all of my projects (that have been flagged not to accept new work), reverted back to and tried to accept new work from all of them. This has happened three times today. Oh, and it has lost my total and average credits for the LHC project (now shut down). I have run the BOINC install and selected the repair option. This did not help. Any ideas on how to retrive the WUs from my hard drive and get them back into BOINC? Running Windows XP Pro P4 3.2GH Dual Processors 512MB RAM Boinc 5.2.13 Thanks, Robin |

At any time during the power outages your computer was most probably writing to the client_state.xml file. Which then corrupted. As most programs in Windows don't like it when they are being written to and the power goes out, as what is in memory at that time is lost, instantly. So for the future get a UPS (Uninterruptable Power Supply) which will allow you to shut down your computer in a normal way once a power outage happens, while for now you can just delete the results that are 'left'. |
