Surely by now you have completed the sacrifice of the Christmas virgin. Did the augury provide any information about when you might get around to rolling the credits for SETIClassic into the new system???

From the homepage (News):

December 15, 2005
After 6 years of operation, SETI@home Classic sent out its last workunit. We will clean up and synchronize the Classic stats with the current SETI@home project in the coming weeks. Thanks to all SETI@home Classic participants for their tremendous dedication to the project. You made SETI@home into something of lasting significance.

From [url=http://setiathome.berkeley.edu/forum_thread.php?id=26190#222064}this message[/url]:

Here's another "for the record" message:

There is a lingering malaise around the whole back end, mostly dealing with the backlog of stuff to assimilate, so the BOINC database tables (result and workunit in particular) getting too large and slowing everything down. Usually db_purge keeps these tables trim, but that hasn't been working the past couple of days. As well, workunit storage is still an issue as we aren't deleting workunit files fast enough. But basically everything is trending in a positive direction. The master merge is still going (many weeks to go yet), and doesn't really effect anything. It's a separate database/server altogether and the merge doesn't seem to slow down any of the assimilation insertions.

We'll have the usual database outage tomorrow (during which we compact the BOINC tables as much as we can before backing them up). Jeff and I will both be at the lab and tightening the screws before another few days away for new years'. Of course, we both have been checking in every day of the holidays and remotely kicking things as needed.

- Matt

Meaning the other merge of Classic credits to BOINC will not be done until after this is done. The statement "many weeks to go yet" tells me that it probably will not be done until sometime Feb-Mar.
