I have crunched a number of Wu's and my credits are the same on the BOINC client as well as the Boinc website. It reads 0 on the website and 0 on the client. The client has no problem communicating with the servers. |

Same here since 3 weeks. I have crunched 27 WU during the down period and reported all 2 days ago. Could it be that those are also lost somewhere in the bug base boinc system? I have been told by some users that the system just need some time to catchup. I hope they are right because I won't eternaly waste my time and hardware for a project that bin my work systematicaly. |

They are just holding them somewhere (I hope) to sort them out later on. I also received - analized - and reported back some 52 units and no credits. Continue receiving units, and the process goes on, but no credits for more than 15 days now. |

I haven't recieved any credit for the last 600 to 700 Wu's I've turned in ... Like Liberto said "We are all in the same Boat" Time will tell if and when we ever get any credit for these WU's ... |

As I read posts from Rom, all uploads are recorded, only validator is off, we have to wait till it will be on and validating process starts. Then it will grant credit. Try WAP user info http://slavko.sk/wap/seti |

I’ve been reading a lot of complaint posts in regards to no work and/or no credit. I have not heard anyone mention something that seams obvious to me. The problem is not that our PC’s time and resources are being wasted. If we were worried about wasted time we would have complained just as loud when Seti started re-crunching the same data over and over and over again. The same outrage was shown when we herd there were cheaters amongst us. A great enhancement in the new points system is, measurement fairness, and help stop cheaters. The problem I feel most of us have is a sense the other guy has an unfair advantage. Aliens may not have this problem but a good majority of humans have a competitive gene. So I’m putting an idea out here….. Please be kind and don’t bite my head off… My vote is to clear everyone’s points and start from scratch. In my opinion this would do two things, free-up Seti’s computer & programmer resources and help stop the complaining that the other guy is getting an unfair advantage. |

That makes sense. Looking at the news on the main page, it also says that the number of files in the upload directory got to be so large it caused a huge performance problem. That would seem to indicate that hey are just saving returned results until they get their new hardware installed and working. A little speculation, but it could be because they aren't confident about the past bug being fixed yet (or they might not have figured out a solution yet). Or it could just be because their current setup isn't powerful enough to put much of a dent in it. I would imagine when the new server goes online though that they will get things working again. But personally I think everyone should just assume that until all problems are worked out, all bets are off until the project is completely stabilized. And even then who knows. Something can always happen no matter how good the setup is. You express exactly the thoughts I've had for the last couple of days. Why not reset? Like you I think it would be a great help to the project. We are still in a sort of beta-delta phase IMO, and it doesn't hurt very much and not very long either to have one’s results reset :-). I know from my time as a tester. |

IMHO it is not a problem of data transfered from S@H1. As far as I know everything about it and I'm keeping my eye on it from 22nd June (except of 2 weeks of holiday), it's a problem of heavy load putted on system since it went to public. They don't have enough powerfull HW, everybody started to movo to S@H2 and fill it's own cache with hunderts of WU. That puts a have load on the system. As Rom wrote already, they produce the same WU as S@H1 but it runs on 1/3 of HW. If I'm right, then we just have to wait. Last idea: Keep them manage it, maybe they want to have this heavy load, to see how it works under pressure, sometimes it is very difficult to simulate it. So, keep working till they will not ask to stop. I will do it, I will be in touch and my PC use is still 99,5% which is really a good usage (PC is offline 1/4 per day, at the night when are lines "free") and I'm keeping it working. And I believe that everybody will wonder when credit start growing in near future. Last think: I hate long posts. ;o))) > You express exactly the thoughts I've had for the last couple of days. Ok, I'm going to Chime in here with the Opposing View on Reseting the Credits. I had 12,000+ Credits with Beta, I had 6000+ Credits with the Live Site when it first opened for the short period before they went Beta Live I guess you would call it. Thats not even counting all the Credits I never received for WU's done. Now I have 27,000+ Credits (It's probably more like 50,000+ if the work I've done would ever have received the proper Credit due me) and now you people want to Reset the Credits again... Just how often are we going to have to do this Reset of the Credits. If this is going to be the Reoccurring Theme for BOINC then the Dev's may just as well just do away with the Credits Completely. If every time the data base gets over loaded are we going to Reset the Credits again to straighten things out...??? If every time somebody thinks they are getting short changed on the Credits or they are falling to far behind their buddy's we may as well Reset the Credits for that or them too... At some point & time the decision has to be made by somebody that we either have Credits & stop Freaking Reseting Them or we don't have Credits and do away with the Pending Credit & the Results Pages because there won't be any need for them either... |

But your post has two intrepretations. One you're tired of constant uncertainty, and two you feel the points are important, and should be fixed no matter what. To respond to constant uncertainty. I believe not spending resources on old tainted credit for the good of stable new fresh credits is important. To respond to, points are worth their weight in gold. I see only two uses for points. One to track your personal progress and two compare your progress to other crunchers. In both of the value reasons a reset of everyone will not change the measuring stick. |

I can live with or without the Credits, I'm not going to go jump off a bridge if no Credits are given & I would also continue to run the Projects. But how many other people would continue onward if the Credits were discontinued or if they continually get Reset. I think there would be more than enough WU's left for those of us still here if that was the case. That is the main attraction to a Program like this & about the only attraction, for the competition between buddy's or teams. A lot of people that say it's for the Science are hypocritical at best, because when you look below a lot of their posts they have 1-4 Signatures, well if its for the Science then why do they have to broadcast their amount of Credits to the whole world to see. And yes I'm tired of the uncertainty, I'm tired of the repeated new threads started with the same theme over and over...I'm not getting my Credits or along those lines...I say either go kick the validater in the Ass and give the people their Credit's that are due or make the announcement on the Main Page that the Credit system is to be discontinued and everybody that wants to can leave & get on about their business. Hell, think about it, if they did away with the credits look at all the recourse the internet would get back. There would be no need for all the Stats Sites or Signature Sites at all because there would not be any Stats to put on Signatures. The Internet would probably run like is is supposed to run if we got rid of all those bandwidth robbing Sites ... hahaha |

But somewhere in between you switch over to the pro side of reset... My 2 cents the problem we have is a good majority of crunchers that switched on day one, from old Seti to the new BOINC version were not people that believe in the pure science. We are people that wanted to try to get a head start on the competition. When I was in the Bata/alpha pool, 99% of the posts were constructive. Let's face it the top 100 on old Seti is still crunching to keep their top scores. My vote still is reset, and if possible refresh the old Seti points to a more current date. |

You must be reading somebody elses post then ... I'll try to be clearer. From your post the only reason you feel the credits should not be reset, is it may deter others from helping. But then you go on to explain advantages to loosing some dead wood, and maybe stop some of the complaining. I'd like to be clear here I'm not suggesting stopping credits they are important, I'm just saying the past couple of weeks credits are causing two problems. 1... Work load & computer resources 2... Complaining in the posts that the other guy has an unfair advantage |

Credits or no credits, my cache is full and my PC crunch WU to help SETI do their work. Thats all I ask. This week I was ready to throw the towel and go somewhere else. When, last night, I started receiving new WU I decided to stick with SETI@HOME II. Good science is not about being first. |

The satisfying thing is that the 30 or so WUs I have completed gets US a little closer to OUR goal. P.S. I now have about 45 WUs in my cache, should keep me crunching for 4-5 days - hurrah!! |
