Hi guys,

When my screen saver kicks in, I'm receiving these two messages: 1. BOINC screen saver loading. 2. BOINC not running. Please launch boinc to display graphics.

I've already gone through the process of downloading and installing boinc. Also clicking on the box to ok launching boinc. Done this several times.

Now, I do have Zonealarms security suite software and a linksys router. Zonealarms is not popping up any "denying boinc" boxes.

Also have received this message: BOINC manager is not able to connect to a boinc client. I've gone through the motions several times to connect and each time I'm told "I'm already connected".

Getting very frustrated now. Never had any problems with classic seti, only with boinc.

Thanx very much to all for your help, Cindy

I suspect That your graphics card also need port 1043, which is the normal port BOINC manager uses to communicate with the BOINC Client.
I have seen the problem with ATI graphics cards.
It could be a similar problem, you could try downloading and installing the latest graphics drivers, this may fix the problem.

If not come back, as we need more information.

I find ZoneAlarm is sometimes very bad at prompting for new applications.

In the past I have had to go into the Programs list on ZA and manuslly set the BOINC and BOINCmgr programs. They're there with Ask set, but it didn't.

Hey guys,

Funny thing happened on the way to Roswell Cafe, as they say. This morning as I was visiting my computer, I bumped the mouse so the monitor energy saver would disengage (my computer is on 24/7). Lo and behold, there was the funky new seti@home screen saver doing it's thing, twirling around and recording data. Have no idea what happened but it seems to be working fine. Must have been possessed. Although ZoneAlarm seems to work overtime screenng all the incoming data. I very much appreciate everyone's advice. Will keep it on file for any future problems. Now, my classic seti@home has not been uninstalled yet. The icon is no longer in the task tray. Is it too late to transfer my files, or has seti already done that for me? Hate to lose all that time and units. Probably sit down this weekend and figure out how to transfer, if anything is still left.

Again, thanx very much for your help, Cindy
