BOINC v5.2.8, Athlon 64 3000+, Windows XP Home SP2.

Seti@Home BOINC screensaver crashes on launch - but only when I am compiling a new Ebay item for sale. When Ebay is in this mode, it appears to be running Java to save data entry automatically - sorry for my ignorant explanation but at least it's a repeatable one!

BOINC error message reads...

26/11/2005 16:04:14|SETI@home|Unrecoverable error for result 17ja04aa.20660.12242.361066.197_3 (The system cannot find the path specified. (0x3) - exit code 3 (0x3))

This coincides with multiple error message boxes stacked across the screen.

Any ideas?

Try setting the my Account, general preferences, 'Do work while computer is in use? yes' to 'no'.

Update, then in Task bar, right click the BOINC 'B' and select run on preferences while doing your EBay compiling.

You can select run always when finished if that is your wish.

This sounds like a workaround rather than recognition of a problem - could it be fixed in a leter version?

Chris, don't forget that you are talking to other users, not to Seti staff (even if some of them look in here from time to time).

So it's clear that you are offered a workaround, if there is no solution. But you can suppose that the problems discussed in here will find their way to BOINC staff. If you want to be sure, post it in the BOINC boards.

Yes of course - I just wondered if this is a problem symptomatic of the 5.2.8 BOINC version.

I guess I'll stick with the workaround then if I am alone in this experience.
Thanks.
