SIMAP has a generic BOINC website running. So they are getting closer to going online. http://boinc.bio.wzw.tum.de/boincsimap/ |

What is the difference between SIMAP and Rosetta, Predictor, and WCG? If I'm crunching some/all of them, will I be repeating work already done or are all these projects mutually exclusive? |

What is the difference between SIMAP and Rosetta, Predictor, and WCG? I don't have the scientific background for a detailed explanation but AFAIK the goals are different: Rosetta: "calibrating" their software for proteine folding and improve the forecasts using known proteins Predictor: compute "real" protein foldings SIMAP: search for protein similarities WGC: Similar to Predictor, I think (but I'm unsure) It seems these projects are mostly different in their goals, so most likely no "double work". Hmmm... Looks like they wiped me as well. Not very pleasing as account creation is closed. Maybe I'll skip this one. |

you also forgot Folding@Home ... :) They are all working in the same "space" but the specific goal of each of the projects are slightly different. We should not be too surprised, this is an important area of research... |

you also forgot Folding@Home ... :) Folding@home is not public yet :) That is why I didn't include it. |

Hmmm... Looks like they wiped me as well. Not very pleasing as account creation is closed. Maybe I'll skip this one. They are testing internally before going PUBLIC. Read their front page news, or read it as posted by Trulayne: The old database which was used for testing has been dropped, including all user accounts. To join the project please (re-)register when the project is public. It isn't public yet. Just keep checking until they are. Their forums are open to everyone, as they are phpBB forums, NOT BOINC forums. |

The BOINC F@H is not public yet, but they have a classic version as well. Sorry, but I only have a boinc view point. :P I have a limited number of machines, so I choose to only crunch boinc projects... :) |
