Message 202721 - Posted: 4 Dec 2005, 15:16:18 UTC - in response to Message 201213.

I see that my classic account was transferred, but it only lists what I've done til march of this year, some 6500 units processed and some change. Currently on the classic I have 19,069 and while the message says I can process the classic units til December 15th, I keep getting the same units downloaded. My goal was 20k units, I don't guess I'll be able to achieve that now, thank you seti. :-)

If you are talking about an old Classic acct look here

Possible fix for linking Classic Seti to Boinc Seti.......

Classic Acct. Updating

If you had an account in the original 'SETI@home Classic' project as of 15 March 2005:
We've transferred your account, including profile and team information.
You must now activate the account.

... and enter your SETI@home Classic password
If you don't have your password, you won't be able to activate your account; instead, just create a new account.

If it is an old Boinc Acct, no you can not combine them....

Hello

How are you suppose to handle the transfer if you've created your account AFTER March 23rd 2005? I created my seti account on May 22nd and currently have 7265 completed work units.. so I'd like to move them over. I've created my BOINC account, but not seeing a way to tranfer those work units, since it doesn't see my email.

Any ideas? I wish they would give an 'else' to their 'if' statement.

If you participated in SETI@home Classic before 23 March 2005, we've created a SETI@home/BOINC account for you.

As long as you created your BOINC account using the same e-mail address as you used for the SETI account that you created on May 22nd then, AFTER Classic shuts down an update of ALL user data since the last 'snapshot' on March 15th will catch your stats.

I can't answer that. I'd try linking your accounts before the shutdown, just to be sure you did everything you could to save them. I don't see them in your boinc account.

I have tried all the ways that have been posted and they ard just not working. I don't remember what my e-mail was at the time, I've tried every way possible, in the sah all my stats are there I got a password but then it says need e-mail. I've tried every e-mail I cam remember but none of them works. It looks like I'm just going to lose them. It's sad but oh well, I've got a good start already on BOINC.

Thanks

This is my user_info.sah file as opened and copied with notepad:

nwus=0
nresults=3
total_cpu=16328.515625

My email address is the same as the "name" file above and I just added my old isp. I know of no way to get it linked without the email addy.

You could write to "setidba@ssl.berkeley.edu" and state your case, providing your old and new data and asking them.

good luck

tony

That looks like your old email address to me. Am I missing something? You know your old email, your old password, your new boinc email, and your new seti hex key. that should be all you need.

I have your password by using your user_info.sah in the form. if you need it.

You might want to delete/change some account data in your user_info.sah file by clicking on the "edit this post" link on the top of that post. So others don't mess with your old account

Thanks, I didn't think about that I have edited it.

I have my password too. I know that looks like my old e-mail account too. But when I've tried to use it to link the two accounts it says "No SETI@home Classic account with email smagic@mindspring.com was found".

I appreciate the help you are giving me.

Thanks

And now you and I are in the same boat, When I tried it, it said "mmciastro@xyz.com" not found.

I've sent an email over a week ago, with NO response. You could write to setidba@ssl.berkeley.edu, include all names (old and new) and passwords/keys (old and new), and ask for them to do it.

That's all I can do for you

sorry I can't do more, or I'd do it for myself LOL

I have tried everything suggested in this forum. . .unless I missed something, (I do find it somewhat difficult to follow the thread at times) but cannot link my BOINC account to my classic account. I think I am just going to have to cross my fingers and hope for the best. I have tried all fields on the front page. I know my email address for the old account and my passsword but I'm told there is no account at that address and yet I can access my stats with that same email on the classic website. With the other two opportunities to link accounts although I can answer all fields I get a "must supply an email address" which I am but I guess the software doesn't like it. I really hope I can get my credits, that's half the fun of participating and trying to beat my other team member, who is now way ahead of me because he got his credits from Classic. I also emailed setidba with no response, or at least not yet :-)

Thanks Tony, I e-mailed them and it turned out I had another e-mail address that I had forgotten out. Once I used that one and the password, everything linked.

You are the greatest.

I am another passenger for your boat. I have used the classic processor for many years and just changed to BOINC. I can still see my credits in my account but BOINC can not. I hope someone can offer a solution.

I have all my credits now as it turned out I had used an e-mail that I had totally forgotten about. I wrote to setidba@ssl.berkeley.edu, included all names (old and new) and passwords/keys (old and new), and ask for them to do it. A couple of days after that I showed all my credits. Give this a try.

So, okay, I'm in the same boat, I believe...?

New Account (Michael Gmirkin):
SETI@home member since 11 Apr 2006
Total credit 209.35
Recent average credit 11.90

Old Account (MGmirkin):
SETI@home member since 18 Dec 2003
Total credit 0.00
Recent average credit 0.00
SETI@home classic workunits 192
SETI@home classic CPU time 894 hours

I'm not getting my Seti Classic credits to display in a Seti Classic Credits field in my New Account (it seems to be the theory that they shouldbe displaying there in separate fields since the accoutns are supposedly now linked??). Nor are my new account credits showing in the apparently separate account that was created for my Classic credits?? So, HOW ARE THESE LINKED? I don't think they are... User #'s 8388429 & 1158028 respectively. The first shows new credits, the latter shows Classic WU's & credits. But never the twain shall meet? I thought that utilizing http://setiathome.berkeley.edu/sah_email_form.php , entering your old e-mail in the top and filling out section 3 was supposed to 'LINK' the two accounts? I did that, I did hit the link accounts button. I entered the account key mailed to me onto the subsequent page, and theoretically they should now be 'linked?' Am I wrong? Or did I do something incorrect?

I'm fairly good at following instructions, so I'm pretty sure I did it right. How long does it take for the Classic credits to show up in the new account, or new credits to show up in the old account or vice versa, since this seems to be what everyone says happens if you link them, from the various posts and threads I've read so far...? Am I completely misreading them, that there should be at least one of the two accounts which will show ALL the data (in separate fields, of course, one set for new work credits, one set for classic work credits since there's no way to convert the incompatible fields between Classic and BOINC (into a single set of data), but they can at least list the old WU's and work hours).

Any help appreciated from someone who knows what they're talking about.

Again, I used http://setiathome.berkeley.edu/sah_email_form.php and filling in the top section, and the bottom (3rd, 'link accounts') section (after trying a few times to remember my old password). Then I used the account key (mailed to me) for my Classic account on the subsequent page, theoretically to finish linking them. So, why are they not seeming to be linked, but rather separate accounts that neither show the total for the other, in addition to their own. And there doesn't seem to be any way to get from one set of results/acount to the other without going back to the front page and simply logging in as the other user.

Please, a little clarity, and easy-to-follow troubleshooting. Or better if someone from Seti@home can examine the two account #'s and see if/why they're not linked...

Hmm, so now I'm wondering, I guess, if rather than linking my new (Michael Gmirkin) account to my old Classic account, if somehow I created a NEW account (mgmirkin) that's linked to my old account? If so, why did it create a new account, rather than linking my already-created new account to my old seti classic account?? I'm confused. *sigh* why do I feel ike I'm in a minefield or a quagmire, or a quagmire that's also a minefield?

Basically, I want my new account #8388429 linked to my old seti Classic stats. Is that so much to ask?? I'd prefer not to have two separate accounts. I don't know why it created two separate accounts rather than doing what I told it to do (IE, link my new account to my old account, NOT create a NEW new account)... =o\\

This whole transition seems kinda screwy. I mean am I going to have to stop using my old new account and start using my new new account if I want to use my seti classic credits? Or can some back-end DBA wizard fix this mess that was created?

Sorry, didn't mean to come off as contrary or rude, just, well, frustrated that things aren't quite going as they were expected to go...

If you still have your e-mail address of Seti Classic as well as your Classic password, you can still combine both accounts.

Go here, fill in your e-mail address of Classic in the upper part
and in the lower part "... or if you've already created a SETI@home/BOINC account and want to link it to your SETI@home Classic account:" fill in

the Email address of your existing SETI@home/BOINC account
the Account key of your SETI@home/BOINC account
and your SETI@home Classic password

and use the "link to existing account" button.
