Hi All,

So how do you know if one of your jobs from Seti had something interesting and was flagged to be looked at further?

Hi All,

You don't, unless it turns out it was something, theyve verifyed it, used extra telescope time double check the source, found something a second time, checked it with another group doing a similar project, then if theyre still looking at it they might let you know.

Speculation: They perhaps don't make it known to you until theyve verifyed it to stop you calling the press and making it public for it then to turn out to be nothing, that would severely undermine the SETI project in the public eye.

This reminds me of a movie quote... :-)

"Vogons. They are one of the most unpleasant races in the galaxy. Not actually evil, but bad-tempered, bureaucratic, officious, and callous. They wouldn't even lift a finger to save their own grandmothers from the ravenous Bug-Blatter Beast of Traal without orders signed in triplicate, sent in, sent back, lost, found again, subjected to public inquiry, and finally buried in soft peat for three months and recycled as firelighter."
