I was given a workunit with CPDN. I worked on it for over 200 hours. This unit was the extra workunit given from boinc error. I was receiving no credit for it. Why? Becuse someone was already sending back work from this unit. I lost 200 hours of time and got nothing for it. Was my data wrong? No. Was I told why I was given no credit? No. Did I give actual work to the project? Yes. The work unit wasn't going to expire until next year. It has been a week since I have been credit in anything. Are the credits in themselves important. It's the principal. Someone does work for a project they should be given credit. If you don't like what they are giving, you tell them why and reduce their load, but still give them credit for actually doing any work. |

An interesting thought, but perhaps it would be better aimed at the CPDN board? Those work units are very different than Seti's and that problem really doesn't arise here. ----- |

Boinc caused the problems and boinc is how point are given. Boinc is being developed where setiathome is. Boinc is where they don't give credit for doing lots of work just becuase something doesn't go quite right. |

Then why not take it to the BOINC message boards? http://boinc.berkeley.edu/dev/ This is not a Seti@Home problem. https://youtu.be/iY57ErBkFFE #Texit Don't blame me, I voted for Johnson(L) in 2016. Truth is dangerous... especially when it challenges those in power. |

I really don't like registering all over the place and setiathome hasn't given credit for a long time still. The backlog is supposed to be fixed by now. |

hmm, have you read the technical news lately? -matt "They that can give up essential liberty to obtain a little temporary safety deserve neither liberty nor safety." - Benjamin Franklin, Historical Review of Pennsylvania, 1759. |

Some people are just in this for the WRONG reason.... Yeah, I go up to a girl and tell her that she reminds me of LHC@home. When she asks how, I say it's because I want to supercollide her. ----- |

Yeah, and you thought that meant girls, poultry face (smile). Hey, this is Nebraska, where men are men and most barnyard entities look pretty in lipstick. Hmmmm... does a chicken have lips?!? _________________ ** Harlan Sanders was a real plucker |

Boinc caused the problems and boinc is how point are given. Boinc is being developed where setiathome is. Boinc is where they don't give credit for doing lots of work just becuase something doesn't go quite right. BOINC isn't maintaining CPDN's database... Neither is S@H... |

It's the principal. Someone does work for a project they should be given credit. If you don't like what they are giving, you tell them why and reduce their load, but still give them credit for actually doing any work. I am not sure I understand this wholely, but, CPDN work units are long, which is why if you return "trickles" you should be getting intermediate credit. Since there are 72 trickles you should be getting a grant of credit each 2% completed (well 1 point something). Once done, you would be granted the full credit amount. CPDN does not issue the work unit more than once unless people have failed to process it to completion, or because it is "interesting" and they want to see if the same answer comes up. WIthout more information it is hard to guess what did or did not happen, but the others here are correct, this is a problem more for the CPDN boards, or if a BOINC problem in truth, the new BOINC boards. Since you have an account on the project, you do not need to "sign up" again, just to log into the CPDN boards for the BOINC users. |
