It appears that I have uploaded a couple of the work units that are pending upload since last week.

I have also completed downloading 2 of the 10 or so work units that it has been trying to download for a day.

So be patient, it may be slowly working.
I can imagine even if they are all up 100%, it will take a few days to get the uploads cleared up, and the downloads finished.

Yep, just uploaded another one.
So that makes 3 today that made it so far, be patient, and if you are constantly connected, they will slowly make it. It will take many attempts, failures, but they seem to be going slowly.
If you are not constantly connected "dial up", then you will have a tougher time, but occasionally when you do dial up yours may make it, or not, but eventually, they will all drain.

It's not that bad for us dial uppers either, I've uploaded 5 since yesterday and two Beta WUs.

[edit] dang, spoke to soon, 5 Beta WUs are now attempting to download. 5x10 hours/wu = 50 hours of work, but then I already have 12 Betas in the queue and 1 running.

I've uploaded a total of 5 results from my list... that's a little less than 4% as I figure it. I've downloaded about that many as well.

Tony,
You are having much better luck than I am I've only uploaded one seti unit, the last one crunched. It also hasn't managed to keep uploading as fast as I can crunch, Einstein has gained. And have not managed any connection to Beta.

And I'm on 24h cable connection.

I continually got the 500 message with every attempt to contact Beta prior to the outage today, after the outage it seemed to change, maybe they turned Beta back on?

[edit] OK, now it's up to 8 betas in download (none finished)

A quick tip before I turn in for the night.

Try connecting via HTTP proxy 128.32.18.173 in the tools>options tab

I had well over a hundred WU waiting to upload (actually probably many more, but I didn't count them). They zipped through, a bit slower than normal, but with no dropped connections, downloads too.

I now have a full Seti cache on all machines and have set Einstein back to a very low priority.

Hi,
Many thanks for the tip - seems to work for me.

BTW: This tip would certainly win "The Tip of the Month" award (if there is any such)

Thanks for the tip. It allowed me to upload, but now I get the requesting 0 secs of work. At least my machine is still busy with CPDN and Einstein....

/edit -
silly me, during the outage, I had set up my machine to No New Work. Changed back to Allow New Work and I just downloaded a unit...

/edit

Yes, the proxy worked for exactly 1 WU, now it's as dead as the rest of this *censored*... :/

Worked for me as well (hippee), shame I can't get to my other machines for 10hrs. Why would a proxy work and not a standard connection?

I'll be waiting with baited(?) breath (I wondered why my breath smelt) to see if they get validated since they were all passed the deadline.

Live long and crunch.

Paul.

Worked for me as well. All Seti and Seti-beta ups and downs now complete.

If we had a "post of the month" scheme here you would get my vote, in the mean time a + will have to suffice.

That proxy worked for me too, uploaded 2 WUs that had been trying for 24 hours and downloaded 2 that had been trying for that long as well.
THANKS

I would only use it for as long as needed to clear your cache, and then go back to 'normal.' Having many, many users keeping the proxy setting for long periods could cause all sorts of problems with the server.

BTW, excellent bit of detective work on finding that work-around!
