I have units that are marked "ready to report" that are not being uploaded. BOINC is uploading other work units, for the same project, as they are completed. Anyone have an idea on how I get these stored units to upload?

I had the same thing happen to me today. I've heard that they were working on something to do with a DNS address on one of the servers. I got mine to start working again by flushing the DNS cache and then shutting down my computer for about twenty minutes to make sure that Berkeley didn't block me for trying to connect to soon. I think it blocks a connection if you try more often than ten minutes.

The first thing I would try is to open the BOINC manager and on the "Projects" tab select your project by clicking on it to highlight it and then press the "Update" button. Now check and see if you still have a bunch of "ready to reports" still under you "Work" tab.

If you still do you can try to flush your DNS cache by opening a command prompt window and typing " ipconfig /flushdns ". After that I would try shutting down for about twenty minutes. If you have a router turn it off and on before you try to reboot.

Sometimes the DNS problems may sort them selves out after a while because the servers update themselves.

Good Luck.

I'm getting the same thing.

Geez, if it isn't one thing it's another with this BOINC.

Yes, with BOINC life is exciting again. I was getting a little spoiled running SETI classic.

I too get "ready to report" WUs. These have already been uploaded, but for some reason (please tell me why - I don't fully understand how this system works) you have not yet been credited for the result. Clicking on "update project" gets them credited to you (or at least you get "pending").

Uploading and reporting work is seperated by design in the BOINC system. This was done to reduce the bottleneck on the scheduling server. The client will automatically report eventually.

Many thanks for that link. Now I understand.

Also worth mentioning that if BOINC has repeated problems communicating with the server, it can end up deferring for several days. While it is deferring it will happily upload completed results, but they will remain "ready to report", so you don't get any credit for them, and no new WUs will be downloaded either. This regularly happens with one of my PCs which communicates via a proxy, when the proxy has problems. As the PC is often unattended for days on end situations have arisen where it just runs out of work. (I have it set to cache 10 days of work, but quite a few WUs are aborted after a few minutes, so in practice it can actually be far less than 10 days' supply.) Whilst I'm aware of the "DOS attack" issue when the server comes back after an extended outage, I do think they are rather over the top deferring communication with the server for several days!

If you are using version 4.19 this is very simple.

Click on Projects Tab, click on the project, Right Click, then select Update...now it should disappear.

On 4.45 (if you are lucky enough to get this version to run without it taking a nosedive) it is as simple as clicking on the Transfers Tab and resubmitting it. If it don't upload it...that's 4.45 for ya....it may eventually do it by itself once it's done backing off.

Whoever designed 4.19 and seti@home classic, I congratulate on doing a great job in offering a flexible, free, & stable program. 4.45, on the other hand, needs a great deal of work, is slow, is lucky if it works and/or connects. Ok, maybe I am being too harsh since it only works right for some (and not all) users and how dare I refer individuals to a roll-back version that actually works.

However, by the nature of your question, I'm thinking you may be using 4.19, if so, the second sentence I'm sure will answer your question and fix your problem.
