No title as yet.
Written by me during March 2006.
I may revise it.

Chorus
Now ... is the time
to let it all go.
Let it fade away,
into the past.
Now ... is the time.
Need to let you know
that yesterday
just can't last.

Verse 1
Time to make amends
with an old friend.
Time to set things right.
Let go the fight.
Time to say those things.
Could mean everything.
Time to speak from the heart.
Could mean a new start.

Repeat Chorus

Verse 2
Time for cycles to break.
Find new ways to take.
Time to know yourself,
then become selfless.
Time for forgiving.
Let's start living.
Time to share my wish ...
to not go on like this.

Repeat Chorus twice.

Very nice. Inspiring; hopeful.

And in the death
As the last few corpses lay rotting on the slimy thoroughfare
The shutters lifted in inches in Temperance Building
High on Poacher's Hill
And red mutant eyes gaze down on Hunger City
No more big wheels

Fleas the size of rats sucked on rats the size of cats
And ten thousand peoploids split into small tribes
Coveting the highest of the sterile skyscrapers
Like packs of dogs assaulting the glass fronts of Love-Me Avenue
Ripping and rewrapping mink and shiny silver fox, now legwarmers
Family badge of sapphire and cracked emerald
Any day now

The Year of the Diamond Dogs

To a goose

If thou didst feed on western plains of yore;

Or waddle wide with flat and flabby feet

Over some Cambrian mountain's plashy moor;

Or find in famer's yard a safe retreat

From gypsy thieves, and foxes sly and fleet;

If thy grey quills, by lawyer guided, trace

Deeds big with ruin to some wretched race,

Or love-sick poet's sonnet, sad and sweet,

Wailing the rigour of his lady fair;

Or if, the drudge of housemaid's daily toil,

Cobwebs and dust thy pinions white besoil,

Departed Goose! I neither know nor care.

But this I know, that we pronounced thee fine,

Seasoned with sage and onions, and port wine.

(Robert Southey)

Nice poem Sarge. It made me think. Which I don't often do.

It was written about the O.J. Simpson case ... but it was also inspired by Rush's "Show Don't Tell" about the Scopes trial. That and my first experiences in January 1995 with how people portray themselves and others on the 'Net.

It seems some ppl here are really into what has been written at "Dead Poets Society":
Keating: We don't read and write poetry because it's cute. We read and write poetry because we are members of the human race. And the human race is filled with passion. And medicine, law, business, engineering, these are noble pursuits and necessary to sustain life. But poetry, beauty, romance, love, these are what we stay alive for...

Alas, I can't rhyme in English, so I wrote a lay about a hero and a close friend as chopped-up prose:

A lay about a superhero.

I’ll sing a lay about a hero,
A hero of super-size.
A super-human being,
Who touched so many people’s hearts.

He was a mighty warrior,
A defender of injustice and wrong.
He knew how to fight the wrongdoers
With his skills, intelligence, and mind.

He overcame so many obstacles,
Not without wounds, scars and pain.
But even then he was capable
To ease children with troubled bodies and minds.

He flied as high as the eagles,
His mind was just as free as theirs.
He also looked into the abyss
Of the worst any person could see.

He sang with his well-toned voice
Songs of emotions and pride
For the crowd of people from his town
Proud he accepted the mayor’s prize.

He called me a rose in a crystal vase,
But it was himself who was the finest of all.
His heart was rock solid
Of the purest gold and gemstones so fine.

One sad day, without we noticed his pain
He left without many words
To a hospital to be looked after
And fell asleep in a bed.

And he slept as a Cinderella
Except there was not prince to be found
A fairy godmother neither,
To wake him up with a kiss again.

And one day he passed away
Quiet and calm in his sleep
Without a good bye to his loved ones
Even he kissed our minds with his soul.

But his spirit is still among us
We still feel his love and care.
His memory will live in our minds,
Us, whose hearts he touched.

So this is my song about a hero,
A hero, who stood alone in the crowd.
A person, a human being,
I feel lucky to get to know, who was to me so dear.

One of my favorite poems from Tove Ditlevsen, one of Denmark's finest poets and writers. I have just finished reading her biography again. She was an amazing person.

De evige tre.

Der er to Mænd i Verden, der
bestandig krydser min Vej,

-Tove Ditlevsen

There was a young fellow called Shane,

Who went for a walk in the rain.

As he stepped in the road

He fell on his nose,

And his glasses got caught in the drain.

Se den lille kattekilling,
nej hvor er den sød.
Den har fine hvide poter
og en pels så blød.

Den ka' sig' miav og spinde
lige som sin mor.
Den skal snart få lært at finde
hen hvor musen bor.

Lille mus kom op af hullet,
kom og leg tagfat.
Har du ikke lyst at lege
med den lille kat?

Nej, det må jeg ikke
for min far og min mor.
De si'r at det var dig
der åd min storebror.

Nej, det var det ikke,
det var smeden gamle kat!
Ham der bor i Ã…rhusgade
nummer enogtres.

Time is fleeting, and so they say.
I feel time coming,
not far away.

But I'm at peace
here with you all.
I'll stay while I may
until the call.

My kitties comfort,
not ask for much.
A little food,
a loving touch.

They do not want much
nor do they plead.
They know what little
is their need.

And yet they give
so much to me.
Their loving eyes
is all I see.

I ask for little,
please understand.
When I reach out,
please take my hand.

I hope you all would feel as I,
to say Hello, not just pass by.
I feel a peace that's all around
I wish you'd find
what I have found.

Have all built their nests in my beard!'

Album: Presto
Title: Available Light

Words by neil peart, music by geddy lee and alex lifeson

The restless wind
Has seen all things
In every kind of light
Rising with the full moon
To go howling through the night

The sleepless wind
Has heard all things
Between the sea and sky
In the canyons of the city
You can hear the buildings cry

Oh the wind can carry
All the voices of the sea
Oh the wind can carry
All the echoes home to me

Run with wind and weather
To the music of the sea
All four winds together
Can't bring the world to me
Chase the wind around the world
I want to look at life --- in the available light

Play of light
A photograph
The way i used to be
Some half-forgotten stranger
Doesn't mean that much to me

Trick of light
Moving picture
Moments caught in flight
Make the shadows darker
Or the colors shine too bright

Oh the light can carry
All the visions of the sea
Oh the light can carry
All the images to me

Run to light from shadow
Sun gives me no rest
Promise offered in the east
Broken in the west
Chase the sun around the world
I want to look at life --- in the available light

All four winds together
Can't bring the world to me
Shadows hide the play of light
So much i want to see
Chase the light around the world
I want to look at life --- in the available light

I'll go with the wind
I'll stand in the light
Capitalize on this good fortune, one word can bring you round ... changes.

"100% Chance of Rain"

been, dry as a bone out there
the withered plants bleached in the sun
a little piece of hell on earth
kind of makes me wonder, what we've done
grapes are dying, on the vine
you got no grapes, you get no wine

(chorus)
there's 100 percent chance of rain, someday
yeah someday the dry will give way
to puddles on the ground
100 percent chance things will be better, someday
and then i'll be glad i had the faith to stick around

been, tired of the heat out there
the summer heat stays beyond the day
sweat beads up on my brow
everywhere i go it, feels the same
crops are dying, beans and corn
you don't get paid, you just get warm

(chorus)
there's 100 percent chance of rain, someday
yeah someday the dry will give way
to puddles on the ground
100 percent chance things will be better someday
and then i'll be glad i had to the faith to stick around

(bridge)
i feel relief is out there somewhere
waiting for just the right time to come in
i can feel that hope is out there someday
you know the winners get their way
but even losers have their day

(chorus)
there's 100 percent chance of rain, someday
yeah someday the dry will give way
to puddles on the ground
100 percent chance things will be better someday
and then i'll be glad i had the faith to stick around

"ramblin' on"

ramblin' on
ramblin' on
sky full of stars
that will stay until dawn
untraveled road
that leads me to see
whatever it is
that i'm meant to be

ramblin' on
ramblin' on
searching for truth
i can hang my hat on
barenaked trees
on a cold winters night
stand all around me
in peaceful starlight

(bridge)
dim lighted pathways
to places unknown
uncounted moments
i spend all alone
searching for freedom
from the toils of the day
walking this road
always takes them away

ramblin' on
ramblin' on
the stars rule the night
when the daylight has gone
wistful old memories
are with me tonight
as i walk alone
in peaceful starlight

GIVE ME A BANANA (i'm stuck in indiana)

give me a banana
i'm stuck in indiana
and i feel like climbing up a tree
nothing on the ground for me
not as far as i can see

i left my home behind me
now no one's gonna find me
i feel the boredom every night
would someone please turn on the light
nothing here is going right

(chorus)
i came here in a car
drove here from very far
now why i did is hard to see
i sit here up till dawn
and wonder what went wrong
i wanted indiana
but indiana don't want me

give me some tequila
so i can hardly feel it
get me high and let me go
where i'm going i don't know
outta here or somewhere close

give me a banana
i'm stuck in indiana
and i feel like climbing up a tree
nothing on the ground for me
not as far as i can see

(chorus)
i came here in a car
drove here from very far
