You see where it states AS of March 15th 2005, well that means the count you have is up to that date and the rest will be added as soon as Classisc shuts down......

So when is classic shutting down? and why ? Do I need to change to a different seti program?

BOINC is a better platform for the growth of SETI and the related science and is also adaptable to many other Distributed Computing projects. If you are already running BOINC that is the replacement for SETI Classic. (the original SETI software.)

Also, if you like SETI, then you may also be interested in Einstein@home, which is a different project but a nice complement to SETI as well as a good backup. One of the advantages of BOINC is that you can run more then one project and in your project settings control how much time each project gets.

ok now I am confused.

let me back up and I hope someone can explain this to me.
I have seti running on my computer. about 2 days ago I decide to check my over stats on the seti web site. I find it has changed to bonic. I download bonic install at least I think I did. I also still have my old seti running.

Now do I need to erase my old seti program?
Is the bonic program also doing seti ? so do I in effect have two setis running ?

Each program is different. Both are crunching similar data, but they have different scoring methods and different mechanisms.

http://seticlassic.ssl.berkeley.edu/ is the new URL for the "old SETI" usually referred to as SETI Classic.

You can still continue crunching SETI Classic until it closes, if you want to. (No date has been set). However, I would recommend you consider leaving SETI Classic and working with BOINC. I do not recommend running both at once.

There are still a few issues with BOINC SETI, but most of those have involved server problems recently.

The choice of which to run for now is yours, but I would recommend you run only one of them, either BOINC or Classic. BOINC is a little more complicated to set-up, but not as bad as it sounds. There are folks here who are glad to help the new BOINC users.
